Interesting to hear the background of how that classic (and others from JF) evolved. The de-tuning was key to it all.

Cool story. In my very small mind, JF is a musical genius. Just SO many great songs in such a short period of time. He and CCR could bring it live, too. That guitar is a 1968 or so Les Paul Custom, sometimes called the "Fretless Wonder". A HEAVY guitar with low, wide frets and a monster sound even when tuned to standard pitch. Hadn't heard this story before and really enjoyed it. Watch CCR live at Woodstock if you haven't. They were something else...
