THIS POST DETAILS A SOLUTION RE >>>> HOW TO DO 48 K SONG PROJECTS.

(hopefully this will help new pg users as well as some existing users interested in the topic.)
For history of 44.1 versus 48k just google eg...

https://audiophiles.co/44100-hz-vs-48000-hz/

1..INTRO.

firstly read this from Simon at PG....re band in a box.

https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=827053#Post827053

and...

thanks simon. so for 48k projects it can be seen that pg's realband (rb) is the best solution.

heres the issue. bb resets from 48k to 44.1 the sound device.

lots of music creators prefer 48k (instead of 44.1).
but BIAB prefers 44.1K.

so whats the solution ? some creators have a daw they know well and which is setup for 48k. for example they might be doing audio for picture or video.

2..A SOLUTION.

use realband (rb) in conjunction with ones existing daw a user is used to.
in this scenario rb is acting just like biab serving up generated tracks
to the users daw they have been used to for maybe a long time.
if a user can use biab ie entering chords accessing styles and generating tracks
they dont really need to understand much about rb as its just a track generator
in this scenario....in conclusion its a doddle...
PROVIDING EVERYTHING IS SET UP PROPERLY.
once youve done that its easy peasy.

2.1 SET UP.
(how i do it.)

a..make sure windows audio >>>> ADVANCED TAB is set to 48K.
(both recording and playback.)
b..set your audio interface to 48K ASIO.
c..set your daw your used to to 48k ASIO.
d..now this next step is important.
you need to tell rb via its PREFERENCES how your going to work.
sooo...at top menu in rb ...OPTIONS>>>PREFERENCES.
and youll see a tabbed dialogue appear.
set the following settings...
..TAB # 2 Audio >> in audio file type set to 48k in dropdown.
..Audio driver type set to ASIO so you get very low latency.
ALSO you will need to identify what sound device you use.
click on >>>> Drivers and select the same as you have in your
current daw or music app. makes sense right ?
..TAB # 7 song generation i have all ticked.
NOTE..if your not seeing waveforms in rb main tracks view
check to see that 'auto generate song' is checked under tab 7.
and thats about it ...to finish click Ok.
..final setting is in rb main tracks view at top left by the word DROP.
you will see a 'daw plugin mode' button.
click it and choose options for daw plugin mode.
and this is important in the dialog enter your drag/drop
folder name. i advise this should be the same as song dir
you are useing in your daw for the song.
eg if the song your working on is called 'lets all rock'
then rb will need to told to save tracks to the 'lets all rock' song dir if thats
what you want.

2.2 IN OPERATION.

a..you can import a biab song. and generate tracks...
lots of em as rb has oodles of tracks.
if you right click on a track youll see various generation options for midi and/or
audio.
b..you can create or amend an existing chord sheet in rb.
and once again like biab select styles and generate audio and midi tracks.
c..you can create your own vocal or instrument tracks.
d..so how do you transfer rb generated tracks to your daw your used to ??
simple. in main rb tracks view just hilight track number at left and with your fav
daw open drag from rb to a track in your fav daw....
and youll see the waveform appear in your fav daw on a track.
e..NOTE if your daw doesnt do drag/drop you will need to do 'old skool'
and export track from rb and import to your daw.
(all the daws ive tested so far supprt drag drop.)
this should get you started.

2.3 ADVANTAGES.

a..lets look at the advantages
..you can correlate tracks in your daw and rb cos you can see waveforms.
i like this aspect.
b..you can correlate arrangements visually...by nameing markers in rb same as your fav daw.
(eg verse 3 or chorus 4 or whatever.)
c..as you get into useing rb with your fav daw over time
you might want to explore other nifty features in rb.
eg lets say you like in a generated rb track bars 24 to 40 but not anything
else...no sweat...you can just transfer those bars to your fav daw.
markers of course make this easy. and there are other nifty things.

2.4 WRAP UP.

so far ive tested the following daws re drag/drop and transferring rb generated tracks
to them...
Reaper, multitrackstudio.com,bitwig,bandlab to name a few.
NOTE...IF YOU FIND YOUR HAVEING PROBS TRANSFERRING GENNED TRACKS DIRECTLY
FROM RB TO YOUR DAW VIA DRAG DROP. TRY DRAGGING FROM THE SONG DIRECTORY WHERE ALL TRACKS
FROM YOUR DAW AND RB SHOULD BE STORED.

well thats it. a suggested solution for people who want to work with 48k
song projects. ( i expect a few roast beef dinners..joking...lol.)
if ive missed anything just pm me and i'll add and attribute the addition to you.
or if someone wants clarification just pm.
for anyone still haveing probs just post the song to dropbox so us rb users can import into rb.
and final tips...
MAKE SURE YOU SAVE YOUR WORK IN RB FREQUENTLY LIKE YOU WOULD IN ANY MUSIC APP. AND MAKE SURE YOU SET THE SAME TEMPO IN RB AS YOUR DAW TEMPO.
(its also a good idea to take pics of all settings eg with a celphone and or screenshots.just in case you forget something or other unforeseen occurrence.)

happiness and an upcoming great xmas to all.

ADDENDUM.

if you want to confirm that rb does in fact generate tracks at your desired sampling rate...heres a suggestion re testing.

1..drag the rb geneated track (click on track number on left hand side of rb tracks view.)
into windows explorer....then...
2..there are various music apps that will tell you the sampling rate of an imported
file...eg audacity via drag drop or import.
3..there are also various net sites that you can upload to that will tell you sampling rate.

note...in fact with audacity i just dragged direct into it...i only saved to win explorer
in case some music app didnt have drag drop feature.

hth .
