I'd like to copy MIDI and / or audio tracks from 1 song in RB to another song's tracks in RB. I'd like to stay in RB without going to my other DAWs. Is it possible to run 2 instances of RB at the same time?

what you can do is export the track as a wav file and then import it into the other song. that way you can copy several tracks - copy to clipboard only allows you to do one track at a time

what you can do is export the track as a wav file and then import it into the other song. that way you can copy several tracks - copy to clipboard only allows you to do one track at a time OR just open the first song inside the second one (using Import) so it is all available, use what you want then delete or mute the rest. That gives you the option of overwriting the chords with the new SEQ file being imported .. Just another way to get to the desired end result
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

That's an interesting approach Rharv! With that approach, I would guess that you could do multiple tracks rather than one at a time?

Jeff.
if you have a multi input sound interface you can record multiple tracks at a time in one rb instance. is this what you want to do ?

You can use Sandboxie to run another instance of RealBand, using the drag export to import to the other instance. When saving the Sandboxed seq select recover to original folder, same if you are dragging from a Sandboxed instance to a non sandboxed. To run an RealBand sandboxed right click on the exe and select Run Sandboxed. https://sandboxie-plus.com/downloads/https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/tag/v1.15.4

Jeff If you Import one SEQ file into another you get ALL the tracks, just delete the ones you don't want afterwards.

OM and others -
I've realized that I should have probably explained why I want to do this rather than just asking a single technical question. So here's the backstory:
What I'm really trying to do is to eliminate equipment from my nursing home gigs...just getting to old to haul all that equipment. In the past, I used a MIDI-based system that has 4 MIDI rack mount modules, an audio interface, an MIDI interface and a power conditioner all packed into a wheeled rack case that I call "The Beast". Even though "The Beast" has wheels, lifting it into the car and onto the table I use is getting to be too much for the old back.
So what I'm trying to do is to eliminate all the MIDI modules by recording their output, using RB, to WAV files and then having only those files on my laptop still running RB as the DAW. I realize that I could make the WAV files MP3's but I still need several MIDI tracks to run my Helicon harmonizer and several "soft" synths on the laptop so I still need a DAW.
So once I get the WAV files from my tracks, I can import these into a new RB file and copy the remaining MIDI tracks over. This is where the question comes in: How best to get the wave tracks and MIDI tracks from one RB file to another.
In the end, I want to end up with two files, the original and the modified in case at some point I want to make "tweaks" to the original file.
So the whole idea is to eliminate weight not sound and fidelity.
Appreciate everyone's help and suggestions,
Jeff

Open a new file Import the existing SEQ file into it. Record the MIDI synths you want to change to Audio tracks Keep the needed MIDI tracks for Live performance Clean up what's left over Save it as a new name.
To save disk space, merge all the audio tracks to one stereo track, re-save (you always have the original if needed and can simply Import it back into the new again later). Just be careful with your file names so you don't accidentally write over something. /Even if you do RB will likely have a backup file (BKS) that you could salvage. // I wish I had done this more often when an old synth died and I wished I had at least recorded it as audio!

Rharv, of the various methods suggested, your importation of one song into another and deleting the tracks I don't need seems to work best with my workflow. I've recorded the output of the my synths to a single stereo WAV track. But I have a problem: when I use the import function, it seems to convert my stereo audio track from the original file into two mono tracks in the new file and it seems that only the left channel has any sound in it.
Do you have any ideas on how to get a copy of my audio track, in stereo, into the new import file?
Thanks, Jeff

Hey Rharv, I think I may have this. The secret is to import the entire first song before you record the synth WAV file. When you record the synth output to WAV file in the imported file, everything works. I needed to pay more attention to the order that you suggested. With that I've got this working.
Many thanks, Jeff

Cool, glad it helped and you took it further to reach your goal.
Also, when you import the other song, is the track that's highlighted a MONO or Stereo track? Just curious whether that affects it.
