OK, it's a new feature of the DAW plugin, but what is the point of having up to 4 chords within the space of a single beat!

Multiple users, over many years, requested more than 4 beats per bar, which was a very reasonable suggestion. PG Music delivered their response to this by creating the rather unique 'micro chords' solution. It allows the user to position a chord elsewhere than on a specific beat.

I believe that there are suggestions that this might be achieved differently, but it's a step in the right direction.

It's less about having 16 chords in a bar and more about having the granularity of chord placement, given that you can place chords on any given 16th note instead of only quarter notes. Perfect example is the main guitar riff to No One Knows from Queens Of The Stone Age where the chords would look like this:

There are only 4 chords in the bar, but take a look at the placement - one beat per bar is a rest, and another beat has 2 chords (one on the beat and the other on the 8th). Microchords makes it easier to get that type of syncopation.

I unnderstand. Thank you. The demo showing 16 chords per bar didn't quite make this clear to me.

So how could I use this featur to place the the chords as shown in your example?

Here’s an example of the biggest improvement for me: being able to push by an eighth note to place a chord on the and of best 4 AND ALSO have a chord 1/8 note after, right on beat 1 of the next bar. Doing this was not possible in BIAB before microchords, yet it is quite common in music.

So it’s as Simon said, more flexibility of placement.

This is how I set it up (for the first bar at least):

This is a very useful feature. It allows you to get the syncopation and accents and pushes exactly where you want them if you are willing to take the time to use it.

Previously we could only do this by adding live tracks with the accents over the BB tracks but the underlying failure of BB to be able to hit the accents exactly left the mix a bit dirty, or cluttered sounding. This feature solves that issue nicely.
