This 1/2 price sale looks like a no-brainer. I have used Nectar as my go to vocal processing tool for years. I only upgrade when i see something like this sale come along. But of course I always do a sanity check and ask here if any one has beat me to this and if they have any quidance? grin

Looks like the $75 offer is 1/2 price of the 1/2 price based on upgrade from Nectar 3, which I happen to have.

I didn't see that price anywhere in that link, even after I signed into my account.

I already have Nectar 4 Advanced as part of Music Production Suite 7 and agree that it's a great tool for vocal processing.

I've got Music Production Suite upgrade for $299. My last purchases were 2019-20. Seems like a no-brainer too. I'd be going up at least 2 versions for the big products. Love the harmony voices in Nectar 4.

Thanks guys for the input.

Pretty sure I will pull the trigger today. I downloaded the 10 day demo. At first I was a bit leary. I saw a lot of the complexity of Nectar 3 which caused me to often just use the "PreSets". But than I spent some time with this video.

I saw a lot of things I really liked. Izotope has always done a great job of doing these learning videos.

I still use Nectar 2 for one reason - I very much like the EMT 140 Plate Reverb sim that was dropped in Nectar 3. I’ve used it on Janice’s vocals for years. On another note 😀 as usual Izotope has not declared compatibility with OS Sonoma for a host of plugins that I own. The OS final version was released in October. I assume they wait as long as possible to force some folks to upgrade. Very oddly my ancient Nectar 2 works with Sonoma. 🤷‍♂️ I’ve moved more and more to Waves. I do have Ozone 11 but I prefer Ozone 10 as 11 will not accept my many user created 10 presets. Pardon the ramble.

Why not pick up a second hand license from knobcloud? Average price for Music Production Suite 7 is $175 (full version) from reputable re-seller with 100+ transactions.

I can understand why we need to support small companies, but Izotope and its parents.... I am not worried about them staying in business.

"Second hand" license is a full legal license transfer. Ohh I got my Production suite this way smile

I just watched several Nectar 4 vids and I am much less excited about it after hearing what it does or, rather, doesn't do. I am always looking for a simple tech way to implement passable vocal harmonies but what I've seen so far are just nothing much more than what Nectar 3 already does and those are just not all that great. They really only suffice when you bury them in the mix and I'm looking for something to lift up the mix. I dunno, I might find stuff in there to convince me but so far I have not. Anyone know of any convincing demos of good vocal harmony parts created with Nectar 4?

How much do people use it compared to other voice mixing tools eg EZMix?
Do you use both or will one take over by excellence or do they have completely differet usage?

So many tools, so little time! I use them all! But, of couse the Izotope family are the big guns in the PC area. Between Nectar, Neutron, RX11, and Ozone there is little more anyone would need to process vocals (singing, rap, voice over). With a steady steam of updates for each of these products they seem to me merging. There are some tools present in the last upgrade of Neutron which are now present in this new upgrade to Nectar 4. EZMix4 recently have a big upgrade which makes it a contender, but fact is it is just a huge collection of presets which appeal to those with little interest in digging deeper. The Isotope line also has a collection of pre-sets. Sometimes you find one of these presets and the hunt is over, it is perfect. Other times you just need to tweek and tweek. In those cases, Izotope is a tweek god.

Thanks for the post! I've not been paying attention to my izotope toolbox lately. Been spending my music time with Synth V. But I'm quite happy with this new Nectar so far!!! You da man, Dan!

I can understand why we need to support small companies, but Izotope and its parents.... I am not worried about them staying in business.

iZotope is now owned by Native Instruments. Yea, ain’t going anywhere. Their upgrades and bundles overlap and are confusing as hell. For example, I have Music Production Suite 6.5 and Komplete and they include everything in MPS 7.0 below.

The worst kept secret in the music industry is that iZotope does not qualify upgrades like nearly everybody else. I expected that to change after the NI purchase a couple years ago but it hasn’t happened yet. What this means is that if you buy this $199 iZotope Music Production Suite Upgrade Bundle, you get everything in it. There’s a bit of work once you get the codes as the NI and Bx tools come from NI and Brainwork’s (also owned by NI) and Melodyne comes from Celemony but when you’re done creating accounts with 4 companies and setting everything up, you’re good.

I wasn’t happy when Nectar went to Melodyne Essentials and dropped their internal pitch engine and reverb modules but nothing one can do about that now. The presets are great and everything can be tweaked behind the hood. I do miss the original version of Nectar, however.

$75 is sweet but MPS7 packs serious firepower if you’ll use it all

re Nectar.

obviously nectar is a very very nice product.

but please also look at the plugins i tested out and detailed in the pg tips forum.
there are absolute gems there for not just voice processing but also instruments and audio in general.

just one example are the many airwindows plugins that many studios large and small love who are on gearspace.com where tons of studios large and small hang out.
(just google 'gearspace airwindows plugins' for user references.
the plugins i tested and reported in the pg tips forum are not just very nice plugins but also dont use a lot of pc resources.)

finally the plugins i tested in many cases are labours of love by the developers who have tons of dsp software experience.
the plugins run the whole gamut.

lets also not forget pg's own dx plugins.
many of the songs in my sig used them and ive never had complaints but had various likes.
(note other songs in my sig used big studio expensive gear.
see if you can id which ones viz the songs that used pg's dx plugins.).

in summary please dont discount the plugins ive tested and reported on in the pg tips forum. some even emulate outboard hardware that big studios used to buy costing big big money.
there are even plugins there that emulate vintage gear etc etc if this is ones interest....links are provided in the pg tips forum thread.

hope this helps someone.
my new sig...lol...
'i love pg music apps bb/rb and across the pond english pg tips tea.'

(lots of tips of mine in pg tips forum.)
