Sometimes I would like to add a second drum track in BIAB rather than use a work-around to get two drummers in my DAW. Will this mess up the program?

It won't mess up the program to use two multiple drum tracks in a song project.

Yes, as mentioned, you can add drums on other tracks also. There should not be any issues.

As long as you have a 2022 or newer version of BIAB this is possible - the feature "All Tracks Are Equal" was added in 2022, meaning that anything you can do with one track can be done with any other track, including adding drums. You could have 24 tracks of drums if you like!

Simon, could I ask a related question?
I’ve noticed that BIAB seems to be able to adapt to the presence or absence of other RealTracks. For example, if I have a jazz piano rhythm track, it plays ‘less busy’ if I add a jazz guitar rhythm track. This approximates what real musicians would do.
So, what happens when you add a second drum track? 23 more drum tracks?
Am I correct that BIAB would try to make an appropriate accommodation in these cases?

Am I correct that BIAB would try to make an appropriate accommodation in these cases? No. RealDrums are a much simpler affair than RealTracks and never had that kind of programming to begin with.

Simon did the issue with drums needing to be on the legacy track ever get fixed?
I mean that if there is no drum track it defaults to the legacy track before you can add drums to another track.
