Hello, New here.
I currently use BIAB 2011... I got it with the 2nd hand conputer I purchased a while back. I've been looking a getting a new one as this is getting limited with what I can do, but there are a lot of usefull things in it that I like... Would I be able to keep some of those things and use with a new BIAB 2025? Can any of you help with this?
Hope I posted in the right place!
Thanks
Mico

BiaB 2025 as all the functions of BiaB 2011, plus a lot of other useful additions. PG Music is very good about the new versions being compatible with the older ones.

As far as any work you have saved from the old version, it should work just fine with the newer one. Again, PG is very Back-compatible.

All the work you have saved on the old computer can be transferred to the new one by using a flash drive and putting them in the appropriate folders.

I've been looking a getting a new one as this is getting limited with what I can do, do you mean a new computer or a new version of Band in a Box?

For a new BIAB PG offer 'deals' for upgrades to the software but if you are not the original purchaser you might not qualify - best ask them. However you might be OK as you bpught the program second hand and presumably it's licensed. so the upgrade mighbt be ok.

A new PC opens up a whole different set of questions but whatever applies PG are a great company to deal with.

Actually, without knowing what computer you have, nobody here knows if that statement is correct or not. BIAB Version 11 dates to around 2002. There is know way of knowing if your hardware or OS will run the current version.

So... what is your hardware, OS and version?

It should work. A great deal of how well it works will depend mostly on your CPU. The most recent version of BIAB relies on your processor more than ever to greatly reduce the time a song takes to regenerate. Until recently my backup computer was something I built in 2014, and it ran BIAB fine but just took a while. Of course, when you think back to 2009 and the beginning of RealTracks, you could regenerate a song, go downstairs and make a sandwich, and come back before it finished. We are light years evolved from then, but it takes more processing power than most other software.

BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.

The way it is now it's not very fast, but not too slow either.... 5 instruments 3.5 minutes song, a fare ammount of notes it might take about 5-6 minutes to produce separate tracks

Don't "remove all the old stuff". Generally with Band-in-a-Box and RealBand it is better to install the new stuff on top of the old stuff. The installers automatically update whatever files that need updating while retaining all the stuff you've created.

What Jim says. I have "old stuff" that's no longer available but still works in the current versions.
