When I decided to get BIAB for my Mac i read the information for guitar players on the following link:
http://www.pgmusic.com/wanttoplay/guitar.htm#2
It clearly states BIAB can display guitar tablature and chord diagrams without making a distinction between WIN and MAC versions. Once installed I discover the MAC version does not have this feature, very important for me.
Other functions not available that I've noticed besides guitar TAB:
- Very small lyrics window, very hard to read.
- No leadsheet function.
- No ability to use a Real track instrument to play the actual melody.
- No ability to record or mix other audio from inside the app.
- No tuner.
Thank you.

The real track instruments do not play melodies on either platform, as realtracks are not midi based and are recordings of live musicians playing 3 to 5 minute wave files. They are not broken down far enough in the process to actually play a note by note path.

Lenovo Win 10 16 gig ram, Mac mini with 16 gig of ram, BiaB 2022, Realband, Harrison Mixbus 32c version 9.1324, Melodyne 5 editor, Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL, Presonus control app, Komplete 49 key controller.

Sorry you felt mislead by the features advertised at that link. One thing that many of our customers do when they need the features you mentioned is to run the Windows version on the Windows side of your the Intel Mac. That way you can use your Mac, but take advantage of those Windows-only features that you need. We'd be happy to exchange your Mac version for the Windows. You also have your 30 day money-back guarantee, should you decide you aren't happy with the program.

-In notation window of Mac version, it is the worst looking interface you can get. Also you cannot edit notes of the melody entered compared to PC version .

I would like to see a better Mac version in the future that is so close to PC version. I hope PGmusic is paying attention to these some issues in Mac version.

If the Mac version is like a PC version, BIAB will be the Uno. Other than that, nothing compares to BIAB. It has no competition in its class except itself.

Hats off

It would be considered good practice to publish full fledged and individual feature lists for both -> Windows and Mac version ...

the misleading part is the "2010.5" denomination. If the number is the same, you expect the counterpart cross-platform version to be the same. Let's see... if Windows version is at 2010.5, mac would be at what?...

@Gail - we run macs SPECIFICALLY to stay away from Windows, don't tell me that, if I want everything that the application has to offer, I have to install and run Windows.

You guys might as well scratch the Mac version all together and say it's not supported anymore, then concentrate on the Windows version to make it work and look like what it deserves- 21ts century...

The program was always the same, on Windows and Mac. The Mac people developed early compilers that allowed the program to be run on a Mac. Then they dumped the O/S, and had no compilers for the code, and no software could be ported to the new systems. So this is who's fault?

They've done this twice by the way. Now if you were developing software, using a language and compiler currently available for Mac's with the aforementioned information, would you bet the farm on developing something for the Mac?

Because they choose not to make available all the required pieces and parts, they develop good stuff like GarageBand etc. Don't flog those who try and offer an alternative. Maybe if Macs had 50 percent of the market share some guys would reverse engineer the thing to figure out what they broke and made proprietary.

A little history lesson...when you buy a Mac they tell you that you do not need anything more to be a huge musician, a hollywood star, or a rocket scientist. In fact if they find out you buy 3rd party software it surprises me that they don't void your Mac ticket and hardware warranty. If you can be James Cameron and David Foster by owning a Mac you don't need band in a box. (Cause that's 2 Canadians and you will watch hockey and eat maple syrup instead).

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
