I've revised my 'Songs' web site, making it easier on the eye and adding a lot more content on recording tips, etc. I'd be grateful if some kind souls could check it out to see that it works ok, especially if you use a browser other than Internet Explorer 8 which is what I use. Click on the 'Songs' link in my signature below. Thanks!
John

Overall, the site is clean and navigation is quick and easy.
These comments concentrate on the Home page as that is what most readers will see.
I’m not too keen on the purple ‘Introduction’ – I would dispense with this altogether. It says The Skyline Band at the top of the page and I think all readers can work out for themselves that this page gives an introductory overview.
If you can, I would try to find a picture which shows you ‘in situ’. Preferably on stage, but if not, then at least in a studio and armed with some instruments. The comfy living room (comfy though it undoubtedly is) is not sending me the right message.
Also John, some of the language sounds like it is right out of a management handbook (authority, commitment…)
As an example, I would suggest:
“Emma has continued to develop her talent since then and now masters a wide variety of styles with energy and emotion, thrilling our audiences with her warmth and sincerity.”
in place of…
“Emma has moved on a lot since then and sings in a wide variety of styles with verve, emotion and authority, thrilling our audiences with her warmth and commitment.”
Oh, and I’m pretty sure its “Wishing on a Star” (no ‘I’m’)

Hi Marc, thanks for all that. But I was actually asking for comments on the 'Songs' site which is the one I've just rebuilt! John

It works nicely in Firefox. Easy on the eyes, song pages load quickly.
Nicely done! Mick

Good on IE6 too...
Sorry about that John – I only actually read the title of your original post!
As regards the content, the sections are well chosen and easy to navigate.
The text is clear and entertainingly written, offering valuable help to a wide range of user levels.
The only suggestion I would make is the addition of a « What then » section, explaining to home studio artistes how to produce a finished article and seek to promote it. (MP3s, physical CDs, labels, publishers, music-hosting sites, ‘Taxi’ and the like).
Again, I would stick to the very basics and let links to more detailed sites do the rest.
In the ‘Songs’ section – obviously the centre piece of this site – I think I might be inclined to drop the ‘John’s Songs’ banner + photo in the interest of including all the text in the ‘Notes’ window without the need for scrolling.
I’m not really a fan of white text, which becomes tiring on the eye after a while.
I shall now re-read your post to see if I’ve actually answered the question in true exam technique tradition !!
Well done, John
Regards,
Marc

Hi John,
As per Mick, it looks good in Firefox here. But am I limited to Quicktime in order to listen? Perhaps I missed something?

Good looking site, John. Clean, crisp.
I am using Firefox 3.6.7.. Problem is the same as I have with my website. If your songs are MP3 then Firefox will require that you have Quicktime installed to play them. I was not offered a choice to download so unless I install Quicktime or use IE. There is supposed to be a FF add-on to fix this, but I cannot get it to work.
On the other hand I have MP3s embedded on my site and they are supposed to start without "play" - back in FF 2.X and WMP 6, this is what happened. No more. WMP does not play MP3 that are embedded.
But I have discovered that if I embed WMAs, both FF 3.x and IE 8+ will play them embedded file using WMP. But not MP3s. So I am in the process of converting and recompressing to WMA.
Quicktime is like a weed that can't be easily eradicated so I don't use it. Guess I'll use IE11 when I visit your site.
Very well done, very attractive.
Ian

I find it good too. I'm using Chrome, running on Linux (Ubuntu 9.10) so that should be a good test for you.

Hi John, I really like this Website. It is very well struktured and layouted. Looks really clean. You find what you want/need within seconds. The Design has a good look too. Looks a little like a template though (like wordpress or the like with a long colum usually in the middle) Like it very much! Congrats.

You have to post it elsewhere on the web, then put a link to it in your message. To my knowledge, except for your avatar, there isn't a provision for directly uploading anything to this forum.

Thanks Pat, I tried it. It took a bit but I got it to work. I used Flicker? Only thing that bugged about Flicker was that when you click on the Picture you go to the site with all the pictures. But it worked. Thanks again, Wayne

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
