Touching lyric does great justice to Alan's original instrumental. The whole song has now even stronger emotion, especially with Tom's soulful voice. It's great about these collaborations that 1+1 equals more than 2.

Topline writing is harder than it looks. And being good at it is even harder...
This is a Superb example.

"I still hear you whisper softly in my ear together we’ll grow old
Then you’d sing me some old love song about heart mind body and soul
There was a night we had a fight not knowing what would lie ahead
We found out that day the things that you say can never be unsaid"

How it is done.
Stunning lyric.

"Memories drift by like storm clouds in the sky
I see us standing in the rain
I still feel your breath your arms around my neck
What I wouldn’t give to see you once again
You know I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t dying
—— to tell you the truth
Baby—- sometimes I still think of you"

It doesn't let up.
(and the inner rhymes are icing)

Alan's tracks are some of the best around.

This is an amazing collaboration.

A big WOW to you both.

What a beautiful song. A man after my own heart with the Steel Guitar. My late uncle was the creator of GFI, Gene Fields. I was raised up listening to steel guitar. You did a wonderful job on this one.

A big thanks to everyone who has commented so nicely. Tom is a marvelous talent! This is Tom's show, and I'm just chiming in here and there. He deserves all those great comments! I just planted the seed - he nourished it and grew into this gorgeous tune.

Janne, thanks for nice comments. It was a quick and easy process to come up with lyrics because Alan’s instrumental really touched me.

Thanks for the nice words. I was lucky enough to have dealt with your uncle. What a great guy!. I had bought a used GFI and it was a little wobbly. I called Gene and he said to send it to him . He fixed it free of charge and sent it back to me and paid the freight. I had a few memorable conversations with him. It turned out he used to work with Leo Fender and designed the Fender Starcaster which was their answer to the 335. You come from good stock.

Tom and Alan,

It's a perfect collaboration.
The lyrics fit perfectly with the melody.
The expressiveness of the vocals is also great.
I'm a little jealous that all Americans have such great country music sensibilities.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

This is a great collab and you both have such a good feel for traditional country.

We already loved the arrangement and your rich vocal brought it soulfully to life - we could feel the heartache .

We love the lyric and your steel fits in so sweetly.

Oh if that song truck would come to our house too! 😉

Hi Tom and Alan,

Like all others here you did a very good job, Tom to make and sing lyrics on a song from Alan.
What a good voice, Tom. Love it!
Always a challenge, but you succeeded in a very good way!
Maybe more from the both of you in the near future?

Hans

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
