I'm watching this from the sidelines as well. So much cool stuff that has 75% function of what I imagine it should.

In reading all of this buzz on these two particular items, it's also interesting to see what the 'hackers' have attempted. Many are talking about using small controller keyboards interfaced to the iPad for 'core midi' functionality.

I'm going to have to really dig in to see what it all means. I've been a VST/VSTi plugin user for nearly 10 years now, so I completely grok with soft-synths. This core midi on the apple ios is a new twist that I just might have to pay attention to.

I'm not an apple guy. I use a sandisk .mp3 player, and a Nook for e-reading. But the iPad can do all of that stuff and it's oh-so-sleek, and these cool toys that plug into it, etc.

I can see myself jumping ship to go ipad/Garageband/coremidi/iodock with a smallish controller keyboard and mic and then all the time I spend on the road could be some fun with hotel room composition and arrangement.
