And to add to what Matt said, to use this feature you have to understand that this feature uses the legacy track names (Base, Drums, Piano, Guitar, and Strings.

(Note: I intentionally misspelled "Bass" as "Base", because when I highlight the first letter, the forum software police sees the last three letters of the word bass as a bad word and as such, displays asterisks in its place.) smile

However, now, when you assign a particular instrument to a track, it picks up the name of the instrument (which doesn't have to correspond to the track name) rather than the track name, so you don't necessarily see the names "Bass, Drums, Piano, Guitar, and Strings". Instead you might see "Electric Bass", "Acoustic Set", "Electric Piano", "Fingerpicked Guitar", and "Tenor Saxophone".

But to use the rest, shots, and holds feature, you have to use the first letter of the legacy names to indicate which instruments to exclude from the feature.

So, to play a hold on a C7 chord for all instruments except the "Tenor Saxophone" (using the example above), you would enter:

C7...S <-- hold all on C7 except Strings track, because the "Tenor Saxophone" is on the "Strings (S)" track.

If you want all the instruments to do a single hit (shot), but have the Electric Bass and the Acoustic Drum Set keep playing, you would enter:

C7..BD <-- have all do a hit (shot) on C7 except Bass and Drums tracks, because the "Electric Bass" is on the "Bass (B)" track and the "Acoustic Drums Set" is on the "Drums (D)" track.

If you want all instruments to rest (not play) except the Electric Piano and the Fingerpicked Guitar, you would enter:

C7.PG <-- Rest all (silence) except for Piano and Guitar tracks, because the "Electric Piano" is on the "Piano (P)" track and the "Fingerpicked Guitar" is on the "Guitar (G)" track.

Hope that made sense.
