Ok Jazz people don't laugh at me but I have a question.

I just completed a jazz composition "to order" and they wanted it it to sound "weird" like the theme song to Ocean's Eleven.

I had it in Eb with a cool groove and I was playing a virtual Rhodes and virtual B3 on a synth with the transpose function on playing in C. But no matter what I did I could not get it to sound weird.

THEN, I kept the bass and a few other parts in Eb but (transposed on the keyboard mind you) started playing nothing but black keys and it sounded great--spooky, but not dissonant at all. And totally grooving. So I obviously have two different keys playing against one another but it still works--quite well, in fact. Half the instruments in one key, half in another.

Does any jazz maestro know what this is called, or it is just called crazy???
