Last Sunday afternoon I watched a documentary, Tennessee Whiskey: The Dean Dillion story. He wrote many songs , most of George Straits hits.
Monday morning I got up and began writing for the first time this year, not in his style but in his inspiration. He said that he couldn’t imagine doing anything else. That’s how I used to feel.
I’d forgotten how fun songwriting can be.

Lighthouse

A single point of light
In a storm raging night
You’re the voice I’ve always heard

The better part of me
When I can’t always see
What’s good in this world

I’m not an easy one I know
Sometimes I steer
Where no one wants to go
But you calm my troubled seas
Somehow find what’s best in me

You are a lighthouse
A beacon from the top of the world
Shining brightly
Smiling sweetly
For me girl

And if I am a fool
Who has too much to say
You listen anyway

The better part of me
Deserving so much more
Than I’ll ever be

You are a lighthouse
A beacon from the top of the world
Shining brightly
Smiling sweetly
For me girl

You are a lighthouse
A beacon from the top of the world
