Agree with everything said. The vocal is so powerful and fitting,
( is it too much of a stretch to invoke Leadbelly? )
we might overlook the masterful use of that Country Waltz BiaB
Style. But, we can't. Still in all, it is that melody. Not a musicologist,
but correct me if this song did not come from something of a Golden
Age of melody, 1820-1900, pre radio, when accoustic was everything.
Requests that come to mind are "Goodnite Irene," (If Clapton didn't
burn that one for another couple of generations,) "He's in the Jailhouse,
Now," and "Frankie and Johnny."
BTW, I've looked for 4/4 BB equivalent. Not yet found it.
