I guess when I think "boogie" I think piano and a melodic walking bass line which defines the style, for me at least. Adaptations for guitar came later.

I always associate "shuffle" with blues and "swing" with jazz. I know both styles can exist in both genera.

I was looking for examples of "Blues Shuffles" on youtube. This came up. I was not paying any attention to the video but as soon as I listen I recognized the guitar player. This is Pete Mays playing guitar. I have played on many occasions with Pete in the juke joints around Houston and at his house. I am vaguely aware of Bill Doggett but had no idea Pete played with him.I assume the guitar lines were highly influenced by T-Bone Walker. Pete and many other blues players were influenced by T-Bone.There is also a bit of Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown in the slide up the fret board. What Gate would call a "forward whip This is classic shuffle music of that era. More detail about Texas blues than any of you most likely wanted to know!!lol

This is what comes to my mind when I think about "Swing Blues" Others define this as "Jump Blues". They also put people like Willie Dixon and Big Joe Turner in the "Jump Blues" style.

As I dig deeper into the various meanings of style names I am beginning to see why anyone would have a hard time to define styles.
