please report in. The graphics of the storm's path showed the outer banks being in the storm's path.

Storm's been gone for almost 2 days.
The eye passed right over us here on Hatteras Island.
That was an experience
Leading up to the eyewall arrival the wind was all south and not particularly hard.30 knots maybe. Gusty but nothing over 40-50.
Breezed harder 50-60 as the eye arrived.
Then it was an eerie calm for 30 minutes. All of us who stayed ventured outside to see how the sound had retreated hundreds of yards. All the canals in my village were bone dry.

Then the north wind came with a vengeance. It blew HARD north/northwest for 3-4 hours
The backside (north/northwest) was by far the worst and caused most of the wind and water damage. Water was mostly soundside flooding. Some folks (especially Hatteras Village and Ocracoke) got hit pretty hard. Hearts go out to them.

We were mostly spared. Lost a tree but it hit nothing coming down. 50 or so shingle tabs broken.

Lost power for about 36 hours. No big drama. Bar-b-que with neighbors.
Apparently the road (NC12) didn't get beat up too bad.
We're out helping neighbors.
Getting ready to bring the boats back from their hiding spaces.
Get back to chasing wahoo and playing a little guitar.

I reckon they will allow tourists back tomorrow.
Life on the sandbar slowly going forward.
