I use text - the little box with the "T"
Find the bar you want the text to go and press the "T". The dialog box ask where to put the text vertically on the staff and whether you want it in a box - so it's not confused with other information. You can also move it horizontally by selecting the note in the bar.

It's been around a long time, and I think its now tied in with section text of bar lyrics.

I use it all the time especially with fake sheet. My text typically says something like 'instrumental v2' or 'vocal pickup' even 'slow to end'
