As far as I can tell there is no such limitation in BIAB, past or present. Most likely that limitation is coming from SampleTank. I was able to get 37 notes of polyphony using Sforzando by leaning on all 37 keys on my MIDI controller, and was still able to hear the first note I pressed.
So Blake, can that default of 4 be overridden?
As far as I can tell, that default can't be overridden. SampleTank is not our software, so we cannot make any changes to it.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
