I'm a bit surprised that Yamaha let their Vocaloids fall so far behind - it seems they stagnated for years. On the other hand, each update SynthesizerV seems to incorporate fairly cutting-edge technology.

For my purposes, the SynthesizerV voices work really well, but I just wish there was more variety to the voices. They've just recently announced cross-lingual synthesis, where their voices can be trained to sing in other language, with very little accent remaining. For example, here's the Cangqiong voicebank, which is Chinese, using the cross-lingual feature to sing in English:

This voice is still in beta, but I'm looking forward to getting a copy and playing with it - it would be nice to have a more mature voice with more oomph than the soft female English vocals that are currently available.
