IMO he was the all-time most technically proficient rock guitarist.

He could do things with the Strat that made my jaw drop. In my life, as a sax player, I've had the pleasure to play with and/or jam with some great guitarists, so my jaw doesn't drop easily.

I might get out the "Live At Ronnie Scott's" video again and watch the master uses the whammy bar to play different notes, in tune, or the slide above the fretboard for the same effect, or all he did with his little finger on the volume knob for expression, or a combination of the above.

78 is too young to go, but I'm glad he was here.
