I recall installing BiaB from 3.5" floppies around 2013 or 2014. It was the minimal version, like Pro is now. Can anyone confirm this, or am I losing it?
A minimal version of T-RackS also got installed, but quickly uninstalled after it kept bugging me to buy additional components.
ThinkPad i9 32GB RAM 7TB SSD; Win11 Pro; RME Fireface UCX II; BiaB 2025 Ultra Bitwig Studio 5; Studio One Pro 7; Melodyne Studio 5; Acoustica Premium 7 Gig Performer 5; NI S61 MK3; Focal Shape 65; Beyerdynamic DT 880 & 770
When I bought BiaB, and for years after, it was sent to me on 3.5" floppies. If my memory serves me well, that was in the late 1980s or early 1990s.
When I started selling aftermarket styles, I sent them out via the US Postal service on either 3.5" or 5.25" floppies. And the 5.25" disks were really floppy.
The first version of BiaB I bought had only 3 instruments, piano, bass, and drums. It had 24 built-in styles, no user styles, no intros, no endings, no notation, no soloist, ran on DOS 5 (not Windows 3.1) and was distributed on a single floppy disk.
I've watched it grow from those humble beginnings to the wonderful app it is now.
Had to go looking for my old BIAB floppies but here they are. The first 2 "versions" I received. Guess I never did get "version 1" only a hand-written "II" Not sure what year that would have been, and I don't have machine that will read floppies anymore.

Nice work, Peter Gannon and crew.

Thanks! My guess then is that the version I received came free with some other purchase and was WAY old.

Back in the mid 1980s I had BiaB on a floppy. Back then I thought it was really a bad program as the 24 (IIRC) styles were very stiff, not much variation, when compared to my MIDI. Then a number of years later I tried again and the improvement was astonishing. BiaB has continued to improve since then.
My momma didn't raise a fool. And if she did it, was one of my brothers.

I very much doubt in 2014, but definitely in 1992:

A lot of folks here may not realize that the forum software that was used starting in the mid-90s was changed to the current software in the summer of 2000. All the posts from those early years were lost. Post counts, too. Yes, some of us go way back to the early 1990s.
BIAB 2025 Win Audiophile. Software: Studio One 7 Pro, Swam horns, Acoustica-7, Notion 6, Song Master Pro, Win 11 Home. Hardware: Intel i9, 32 Gb; Roland Integra-7, Presonus 192 & Faderport 8, Royer 121, Adam Sub8 & Neumann 120 monitors.
I just saw the mention of a distribution DVD above. I'm willing to bet that is what I had, not floppies. Apologies for the brain fart, but thanks for the trip down memory lane!
