I love the lyrics and your rendition of it, unusual but very interesting, keeps me listening to the end.
Good song!
BD, thanks. I like it when people listen to the end!

Fabulous stuff.
Thanks, Ray. Yes, 39 too late for some, but perhaps not for the world if someone had ended his reign then.

Definitely gives the listener something to think about. Personally, I don't think this is too busy or over-ambitious, Scott. I like that you added the melodic hook of the oooohs. Really nicely done, IMO.

The instrumentation in and the overall sound of this song is really excellent. A unique sound and great use of the erhu. I very much enjoyed everything about this. Wonderful stuf!

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Great scary intro and a very interesting arrangement, I enjoy the Western and Eastern crossover style.

Very intriguing lyrics, I like "You can shuffle and rearrange/Nothing’s ever gonna change". You can really combine the story and the band into a unique journey in time and space.

Excellent vocals, great range, I can also hear the Bowie vibe there, especially in the vibrato.

Thanks, Dewey. I wanted to do some background ooooos, but I wasn't sure until I plunked it out on the piano.

Janne, thank you. It's interesting that you pointed out that part of the lyric. That was the section I was stuck on and the last bit I wrote.

Ŵe both love sci fi (Bud read Sound Of Thunder way, way back in high school).

The opening is absolutely spectacular.

We have seen erhus on Playing For Change but did not know its name - love it.
Along with the bassoon it had us feeling like we were in the time travel contraption.

Your vocals are excellent and the great changes from higher to lower register reminds us of Mike Marttison.
It is very effective

The mix, the write and the session guys are all standout.
And the answer to your question is YES.

Enjoyed it!

Scott,

I sense a slight Beatles influence in this song.
I haven't read Ray Bradbury's short story "A Sound of Thunder," but I saw the 2005 American movie "A Sound of Thunder."
It was a very well-made film, and I still remember the plot.
I remember the story was about a butterfly sneaking into the era and causing serious trouble.
There was a line in the lyrics that gave me that feeling, and I found it very interesting to listen to.
It's certainly different from your usual style, but the vocals, song, and accompaniment are all wonderful.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Hi Scott,

I can only agree with everyone here!
Very intriguing, miles away from your 'roots', but that's also a very good thing to do once in a while.
The vocals are quite special, but you really keep listening to them! Great production!!!

Shigeki,

Yes, I am definitely influenced by the Beatles, particularly with what they do in their chord progressions. Thanks!
