Walking Miles With the Blues

I will let you figure out how I came up with this title.

The drums are from BiaB style Avenue MIDI Funk Soul Organ
Note I tried to get this rhythm down via the Micro Chords but I kept failing. Being one of little patience I decided to play the parts myself.

Drums - Steven Slates SSD-5 preset Deluxe 1 - Vintage - 60's tight

Percussion from the BiaB drum track - Kontakt - Brio Ensemble

I am playing my P-Bass and my Xaviere Pro900 guitar and via my breath and keyboard controllers the Swam trumpet.

As always all comments are welcomed.

Well, if this question comes with an easy meter left to right in difficulty, it's way to the left. The title is too good o' clue. The song is too good on its own. Love the playful bass and the trumpet. Did you face away from the audience for realism?

Enjoy whatever happens!

Gee, Mario, that's Kind of Blue. Nice playing of...well, everything. Cool modal jazz piece. Miles wouldn't smile at this, 'cause he never did, but he'd be thinking it. Good stuff!

I've watched a few 40s & 50s movies and TV series recently and this instrumental really feels like it should be in a noir movie in which everyone smokes, no-one sneers "It's a FILTHY habit!" and in which both Brits and Yanks say "Hwat? Hwere? Hwen? Hwy?"

Hey Mario,
As soon as the percussion kicked in with the first chords I got a Low Spark of High Heeled Boys vibe and then it took a nice turn to something quite unique.
Love that bass line.
Great job.

For me there’s no better place in the band than to have one leg in the harmony world and the other in the percussive. Thank you Paul Tutmarc and Leo Fender.

Great title ... we love that cat!

Kind of a swampy jazzy blues vibe to us.

Love all your performance and that horn sound is perfecto in chops and sound.

A well done tribute to the man!

Thanx Marty. I guess it was not very hard to figure this one out. Thanx for that bass comment, it means a lot coming from you.

Thanx Floyd. I'm glad you mentioned the bass as sometimes I have trouble playing bass; you know darn guitar player on bass!

Thanx David. Yes, I did have a lot of fun "playing" that trumpet. It sounds so real to these old ears.

Thanx so much Steve. I really appreciated that bass line compliment. Coming from an experience bassist like yourself it means a lot to me.

If asked who made this tune, I would have never guessed MarioD, MilesD would have been a more likely guess... That chord progression is really really cool and the trumpet playing and its sound are magnificent!!! And the rest of the band is perfect fit for the time-travel to the 60's, very nice bass line and the drums and the guitar are full of excitement and mystery. Would be a good song for a private detective movie, many mile walk through the dark alleys of a nighttime city.

Thanx so much Janne for this wonderful review. I really like those Swam VSTis as they can sound so "organic". Thanx for that chord progression remark also.
