It's hard for me to believe that it was about 10 years ago that I posted my first song here for my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Well, that puts us to them just celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Time truly does fly. I'm posting it here, in the, I'll call "off-showcase" part of the forum for a few reasons. 1-I wanted to share it with you all as you've been so helpful to me over the years in writing, and even more so mixing. I'm not sure I'll ever get mixing down; so I think I may be a lifer here. 2-I used very little BIAB in the actual final; but used it a lot to figure out many of the components and elements of the song. AI was used a good amount in the final song due to just needing to get it done. (There's a long story behind why it got a bit rushed.) The short version is as of a week ago I had 2 lines that were at best ideas. It wasn't the chorus either. It was the "60 seconds in a minute, sixty minutes in an hour." So...not much to go on. I basically have about 10 hours into this from, completely writing all of the lyrics myself unaided, figuring out song structure, instrumentation, creating the music and vocal, scanning in the picture, and learning capcut to put the video together...lyrics are NOT fun to put into a video. It was easier with that AI but still needed A LOT of work. So, 10 hours later, this is the result. It is what it is. 3-The last few weeks I assigned myself the challenge of learning a bit more about how to write classic country to 90's country. When you hear it, it will be obvious that I have a long way to go to make something that is a crossover between the two. Those where their favorite era's of country music; so I had a go at it. I did also try to keep in a little more modern sounding with other elements so it didn't sound too dated. I'm not sure how I did for anyone else; but they liked it! Mission accomplished as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, the lyrics are in the lyric video itself. Go figure. lol Feel free to comment if you would like to, but for this song, I'm not looking to change anything at this point. It is done for the most part, and I'm ok with that. It did what it was supposed; which was honor my parents. I feel really good about that. All These Years

What a sensational tribute. I wouldn't change a thing. Your parents must be mighty proud.

Yes, this is a sensational tribute as Audio Track says. Great song and great performance and is worthy of a commercial release and would stand with any song out there today.
But for me, I remember the absolute genius of your own product without AI in your 50th anniversary gem. It remains on my personal playlist even today. Both versions are great.
Congratulations to your parents.

Sweet. I think you went beyond the 90's into the 00's (or even 10's). Scary technology mixed with heart-felt originality.

That is one outstanding job on that tribute to your parents.
Nicely done.
That was an amazing amount of work to get it done in 10 hrs.

Yes, this is a sensational tribute as Audio Track says. Great song and great performance and is worthy of a commercial release and would stand with any song out there today. That's really great to read! I was going for the more commercial sound because it's what they mostly listen to. But for me, I remember the absolute genius of your own product without AI in your 50th anniversary gem. It remains on my personal playlist even today. Both versions are great. Really? That's amazing to read! I guess you never know those kinds of things until someone says them. I really appreciate reading this! Congratulations to your parents. It's hard to believe they've come that far. Not that they have a bad marriage, lol! Just that it's been 60 years! I'm very happy for them. Appreciate the comment!

Oddly, I was going for sweet with just a touch of bitter to create "that" feeling. It might not be country without that? You let me know. YOU sir are the expert of these genres! Thank you for the "sweet" compliment though. I think you went beyond the 90's into the 00's (or even 10's). TOTALLY agree! At least I didn't go plaid. (I'm not sure if anyone would get that reference?). I made the HUGE mistake of listening to a few songs from the 90's era of country, allowing the song go into the next app suggested song, and the next, all on auto-play. I've had a lot of drive time. I very STRONGLY feel they all got put in the bowl and mixed together into the batter. Originally I was going to reach back to the 70's and 80's but...I decided just to leave those in the 70's and 80's. Then I bought a "WWAJD" bracelet. Of course that being "What Would Alan Jackson Do" bracelet. I know they really like his ballads. I tried to sprinkle in a bit of that James Taylor vibe, and...this is one of that comments I got. FROM MY WIFE : "I could hear Floyd singing this song!" She mentioned it for the chorus and verse sections. From what I could tell, that was a compliment to both of us. I know I took it as one. I'm thinking that solidifies your ability to sing at THAT level. Scary technology mixed with heart-felt originality. I'll take that over heart-felt technology mixed with crazy originality, right? I was hoping it was "real" enough for most. Then ultimately I realized there were only two people that really needed it to be "real." thanks for the comments my friend!

"It did what it was supposed; which was honor my parents. I feel really good about that" As you well should! This had Janice crying “happy tears” before it was half way through. The lyric and photos are so sweet and joyous and you definitely got the country sound down with the band and vocals. Great production and the mix is ace on our monitors. We cannot imagine it being any better. Here’s to number 70! J&B PS 10 hours? Wow. Bud said it would take him ten years to learn the technology
Our albums and singles are on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pandora and more. If interested search on Janice Merritt. Thanks! Our Videos are here on our website.

Nicely done. Thank you very much for saying that. You go into projects like this hoping they will be exactly that. That was an amazing amount of work to get it done in 10 hrs. It was and it was stressful. I wouldn't recommend it for sure. Just other life circumstances dictated that I would be able to give anything more. I have to say though, it cut out A LOT of over-thinking! thank again for commenting Herb!

"It did what it was supposed; which was honor my parents. I feel really good about that" As you well should! Thank you! This had Janice crying “happy tears” before it was half way through. I feel THAT is one of the best comments you can hope for when writing a song. I so strive to move the listener emotionally. Thank you so much for sharing this! The lyric and photos are so sweet and joyous and you definitely got the country sound down with the band and vocals. Great production and the mix is ace on our monitors. I've been working on all of that. You know mixing has never been my think. Not that I don't appreciate it, of course. I just feel I don't have the ear or expertise to pull that off. We cannot imagine it being any better. Here’s to number 70! I mentioned this to them and they said "Oh no, we won't last that long." So I said "Oh no! Sounds like there is a divorce coming?" I'm glad they laughed about it. J&B PS 10 hours? Wow. Bud said it would take him ten years to learn the technology I also had to learnt he video program and do all of that in that 10 hours. I think anyone could if properly motivated. I had a deadline, life interjected it's own timeline, so I had to work with what I could. I have no doubt that you could have done the same. I just don't recommend it. It does suck a lot of fun out of it. At least it did what it needed to do. Anything beyond that is pretty much irrelevant, IMO. Thanks again so much for commenting! My apologies for not responding sooner. We're great but there were and continue to be a few of life's stressors thrown in. Your comments were VERY welcome in the $#+ storm.
