Hi everyone,

This is a song I made in 2018. It was never released. I remixed it, rewrote the lyrics (except the choruses), added BG vocals, and often asked Marty Straub for his opinion on a lot of things (not really on the lyrics).
It is written in a first-person setting.

The song is called Love my power (https://on.soundcloud.com/4hhuDMCo6ikfoHhR6)

The lyrics are on SoundCloud
Not everyone will enjoy this subject, but I can't please all, I'm afraid.
At least I hope you all like the melody whistle

One more thing; I haven't been to the forum in recent months. I've been trying to follow some of you on YouTube, Facebook and SoundCloud.
I'm sorry about that. Of course I have some excuses, but I hope 2025 will bring more activities from me here.
And I just bought BiaB 2025, installing it now, so you never know...

Enjoy the song, also a merry Christmas and wonderful new year.
We'll need that,
Hans

Hans, very topical and inventive--well done! Super vocals/vocal arrangement and love the band. That's a nice solo before the wrap up and like the lyrical twist at the end.

In the words of Rick Nelson, "You can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself..."

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Oh, you know I love this one, Hans. Everything about is prachtig. Excellent lyrics, you prognasticator you. Hey, might I suggest writing one next year to be released in 4 more years? But make this one have a happy ending. Seriously, vocal is (doesn't anyone else hear the similarity with John Lennon?) perfect, and the harmony is sperb. The whole production is a masterpiece.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hans,

Good to hear you again. This is a great production. You have some of the best mixes.

I agree with Marty - I do hear some very nice touches of Lennon.

Excellent all around.

If it's approved by Marty, it can't be bad smile
I like it, especially the sarcastic, ironically bitter lyrics.
Really very well done, Hans!

Hello Hans and Marty
Great song and very good songwriting
The choice of band is excellent
I like the way you sing the verses. Great vocals - fits perfectly.
Nice that you worked together with Marty.
With more musicians you always get better ideas and better songs.
At least that's my experience ;-)
Great work Hans and Marty

It's good to hear your voice again.
Lyrics...pretty much as retelling of history from a specific perspective.
People may take exception to that perspective but the facts, (real ones not KAC alt facts), are indisputable.
Musically a nice rolling piece with some useful dynamic changes to keep interest.
Well done.

Cheers

A great song which I appreciate both musically - it's an ace production - and lyrically.
This is a very personal thing re definition, but I don't consider any so-called 'power possessors' to have any actual power at all. All the have is force. Consider my personal adage #47:
"What's the difference between power and force? / Force can always be met by counterforce, while power can't be resisted. / Try stopping a breeze."

Some favourite Waoist Adages:
#1: Play on the Way.
#13: Ask not for whom the flower blooms, it blooms for you.
#58: Bring consciousness to it.
#63: On the road to effortlessness, effort must be made.
#92: Be Love Now, the rest will come on its own.

Good job, Hans! Well, we made it through four years of this joker before, and he didn't blow the world up. So I reckon we can stomach another four more. We'll see.

Hi Hans.

Congrats on a really fine sounding song.
Your arranging, your performance and your mix are excellent.
Kudos to you, too, for fearlessly tackling a topic that many people would not.
I hope you enjoy BIAB 2025. I just installed my 2025 yesterday.

All the very best smile

Hans:

Great to see you posing again . . . and better yet to hear that stellar vocal. You are a braver man than I am to take on this subject matter. I steer wide and clear of politics and religion in both conversation . . . and especially song. But the production of the song is excellent . . . full and rich. And there is definitely an audience for it. Excellent work!!

Hi Ron, Marty, Bob, Brain and Andi,

Thanks for listening to this -somewhat- daring song. The original song was 'born' in 2018 when that president met Putin in Helsinki. I'm not sure if you still can remember that event.
Well, I liked the melody, but had to change a lot. The one exception was the guitar solo. That stayed the same. Still like it a lot. And I'm glad you liked it too!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Hi Ron, I like that quote from mr. Nelson. And that twist? Yes, I added that in the final stage of the song. I had to smile because of that.
So thanks for the attention on these aspects and the compliments.

Hi Marty, Yeah, you heard the first new version where I was still not convinced bringing the song to an end. But I didn't notice you mentioned the similarity between Johns'vocals and mine. I still don't hear that myself. But Janice and Bud always called me John (except this year). We discussed releasing the song or not, where my wife told me not to do it, but you and I agreed on one thing: who cares? Then I released it... Thanks Marty!

Thanks for that!

Hello Andi, I was very glad to hear from you again, and man what a good song you made.
You surely know that 'more musicians give better ideas and songs'. Although there was one exception:
Marty didn't touch a single string on his bass guitar in my song, while in your song he played like crazy!
But I like the discussions we had on parts of the song. Like I had with your brother Wolfgang some time ago.
So thanks for all you wrote!

And of course I wish you all a happy Christmas and a good/happy newyear,
Hans

The lyrics are spot on. I have no problem at all with them. I like the instrumentation, and I especially like the acoustic guitar that starts the song.

Hi, Hans.

Sounds great, love the arrangement. smile

FYI, despite how it looks, crook, doesn't have an "ew" sound, because English is wacky. laugh

Excellent vocal Hans. Politics is a crazy place these days. Hard to tell who the good guys and the bad guys are. Merry Christmas to to you and your family.

Hi Hans,
Like I said on SoundCloud, it's a great song.
But we can't blame the Americans, as in our own country we're facing exactly the same situation.
Replace "president" by "prime minister" and Musk by Wilders.
Wilders is called the "schaduw premier" (shadow prime minister) and soon Musk will turn out to be the shadow president.

Not the message I'm eager to hear this Christmas, because the worst is yet to come, I'd rather hear about someone who's going to save this planet. But I like your creativity, this is very cheerful pop song with lovely productional details. Excellent mix, I love its power. Just like I love your power, your voice is the king, it's better than ever... but I'm not going to bow to it wink. Very melodic and catchy tune with the right instruments, I wouldn't change a thing (except guess who), I wish you very productive new year 2025!

Janne
