Hi,

I have installed the latest BiaB 2025 build for Windows (1124). It seems that bar settings are ignored for the "Audio" track.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Import .wav or .midi into Audio track
2. Define "Mute" in bar settings for Audio track (see attached screenshot)
3. Audio track is not muted at defined bar

On all other Tracks it's working as expected.

Hi kolex.

I've just tested and muting the Audio track is not working for me either.

I'll report it to the developers and reference this thread so that they can read your post.

Regards,
--Noel

I've noticed Bar Settings randomly disappearing for Bar 1, (and Red Line goes away).
Also, mute settings in Bar 1 occasionally are ignored and first chord in song gets played,
This was in happening in 1123, haven't tried 1124 yet,

Thanks, that's probably an additional bug. During my tests, I configured bar settings in later bars, not bar 1.

Best regards

I just tested using your 'steps to produce' (above) and unfortunately, it appears that this bug still hasn't been addressed. I'll try to give them a nudge.

Hi @AudioTrack,

you're right, as described in my steps to reproduce, it's about the bar setting.

Thank you very much!

Hi @AudioTrack,

is there any news on this? I tried the latest build build 1125, which has been released a couple of days ago: still not working. I purchased BiaB 2025 last year and reported the issue about 7 weeks ago. The mute feature is very important to me.

Thanks!

I've experienced both of these problems exactly as described above.

The only thing that works in 'bar settings' is the mute option... the 'change by' option is ignored. Also, when I mute all instruments except one (piano or guitar) then add all instruments back in - it changes the volume drastically. I try to up the volume of the instruments that initially played solo to even out the sound but it ignores my changes! Very frustrating.

I haven't heard of any resolution, but perhaps that's not surprising. Sometimes these things get addressed quickly, other times... well...

Are there any news?

Unfortunately, I cannot understand this. I now have to revert to an older Band-in-a-Box version because some basic functionality no longer works in the (purchased) new version.

< I now have to revert to an older Band-in-a-Box version because some basic functionality no longer works in the (purchased) new version.>

< The mute feature is very important to me.>

I can't help with the audio mute issue in Bar Settings but it's been reported to the developers. However, it's not necessary for you to revert to an earlier version of BIAB to regain the ability to mute audio tracks in version 2025.

There have been significant upgrades and improvements to audio features in BIAB over the last few years. I've found the audio editing and arrangement options available to users today in the Audio Edit window enhance arranging over the more coarse settings in Bar Settings Dialog. These features and tools are included with the 2025 Windows version. Making volume and mute selections is more accurate and precise than using the volume boxes of Bar Settings.

Besides the accuracy and precision of volume automation, other advantages are:
Volume changes can be placed to apply to regions and beats of a measure whereas Bar Settings always apply to a whole measure.
Volume changes and mutes, fade-out and fade-in work with midi tracks too. There's no visible waveform but the action applies.

You and others may also be unaware of a better method to mute any audio track. There's a special RealTrack specifically to mute bars or regions of bars. RealTrack RT1152-Silence a more advanced way to mute in BIAB. It is a pre-generation instruction to the BIAB algorithm rather than a post-generated edit used by the other methods. Using RT1152 prompts BIAB to select more appropriate RealTrack data for outro's and intro audio material. This creates a smooth transition as opposed to a hard mute to RealTrack data that's already been selected by BIAB and the mute is applied to existing material that generated unaware of the arrangement decision to mute a region. The attached screenshot clearly shows the changes in the waveform to preceding and following the activation of RT1152. Viewing the waveform that a post-generation mute shows there is no effect on the waveform and can result in abrupt endings and beginnings of the muted region. The mute screenshots are of the same waveform with the different methods applied.

To apply RT1152 to mute a region of a track, select it to replace the current RealTrack and then revert back to the RealTrack instrument at the bar you want its sound to return. While RT1152 applies to a whole bar, BIAB may apply fade-in and fade-out to across that bar for a more natural and realistic transition.

RT1152 can also be set from Bar Settings Dialog by clicking the RealTrack Button.

I hope you and others get a benefit from this post.

I've notified the developers again.

Charlie's suggestion of using the volume automation instead of Bar Settings is what I would do - here's a tutorial video that will show you what to do (made by yours truly):

Thanks @Charlie Fogle and @Simon - PG Music for your suggestions and notifying the developers again.

I'm aware of the Audio Edit window - I like it too, but I have numerous existing BiaB projects using the bar settings options (created with previous BiaB versions). As soon I want to adapt/regenerate the tracks with the current BiaB version, I get into trouble. I don't want to "migrate" all my existing projects to use audio edit instead of bar settings.

I reported the issue 5! months ago. Is there any chance the issue gets fixed in the near future?

Thank you, best regards

I've added it as a higher priority in our bug database so hopefully it will be addressed sooner than later. Currently the developers are focusing on the Mac version, but when they're done I'll make sure they look into it.
