Wow, I'm behind on AI. Are the standalone stem splitters better than the BIAB function?
Is Moises any good? BandLab Splitter? Can the results of those splitters be used in BIAB/RB?

Funk. ive been useing the rb built in stem splitter. i really like it after haveing tried others... but ymmv. note Charlie Fogles groovy comments about useing stem splitter plus acw in rb compared to bb. https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=832043#Post832043imho success depends on the source material. its only logical. other day i was happy to split a old song of mine where the vocs were a tad buried and bring the vocs more foreward then i mucked around with the plugins that are free ive used in rb. (see my thread freebie plugins in tips forum). NOTE >> dont underestimate those freebies ive itemised...some emulate old outboard expensive hardware we used to use in studios. imho if someone cant get a hit useing those freebies then i suspect they wont with anything. 'thars gold in them freebies'. also pg dx plugins and the old plugins are underestimated imho. note a tip...once split in rb experiment with pg's own dx tool to clean up a track re low level noise....lots of people i suspect dont know of its existence !! hth...ymmv/blah blah...lol.. happy new year. om

I just see that some of the standalone stem splitters cite that they split guitar and piano into separate stems, where the BIAB/RB splitter seems unable. I'm unsure whether this is true, but if be curious if anyone has witnessed this.

I just see that some of the standalone stem splitters cite that they split guitar and piano into separate stems, where the BIAB/RB splitter seems unable. I'm unsure whether this is true, but if be curious if anyone has witnessed this. Song Master Pro has a 6 stem-model: -Drum -Bass -Vocals, -Guitar, -Piano -the rest. And they also just released a new improved algorithm for the 4 stem-model. (the 4-strem model has no separate guitar or piano). (they have a full functionality trial version limited to 15 min per run, then a need to restart for new 15 min.. This is enough to listen and check out the quality of the varios stems (just trop the audio, select mixer, then generate stems). the trail version does not allow for export of stems but it works fine to listen to and check out the quality. Installation approx 2-3 min) https://aurallysound.com/ https://docs.aurallysound.com/blog/SMPro-2_6-and-SM-4_6_Update

Funk.
with any new tech there is hype of course. best thing is to test various splitters and see which floats your boat.
frankly i'm sceptical re piano...if its not prominent and 'just there' low in the mix ...i'm sure its gonna be an issue...like any low level instrument.

Guitar and piano share much of the same music spectrum which makes it difficult for any 4 track stem splitter application to achieve great results.
Shlind mentioned SongMaster Pro has a 6 track stem splitter. A 6 stem splitter likely uses a different stem splitting way of extracting stems than a 4 track stem splitter. The different method may achieve better results than any 4 track stem splitter; I don't know as I don't have SongMaster Pro. If Shlind has SongMaster Pro perhaps he can run a piano and guitar test song through the Band-in-a-Box 4 track and SongMaster Pro 6 track stem splitters and obtain a side-by-side comparison.
I have a Bandlab account and have used the Bandlab stem splitter. To me the Band-in-a-Box stem splitter achieves better results at this time. Stem splitting technology is continually advancing so whoever is leading the pack today may not be the leader tomorrow.
One additional point to make regarding the Band-in-a-Box stem splitter. The BiaB automatically aligns the stems with the master. That saves you some work.
