Sea Saws

Your long time girlfriend, the one you thought was your soul mate, just broke up with you and left town with her new boyfriend. You are devastated. You take your small saw and violin bow, sit at the ocean's edge, and play your heart out. Note that the intro starts with soft waves hitting the shore so do not turn you volume up until the music starts.

BiaB style - Tender - EV16 Slow Brit 80s Rock
Tempo - 60 BPM

I deleted the bass.
Piano - Kontakt - Amadeus - Full String Ensemble - preset - Sforsando
Guitar - Kontakt - NI Picked Nylon Guitar
Strings - Kontakt - Blue Synths - TBZ08 - Water - Arp Strings
The drum track is from GrooveMonkee MIDI drum loops and the sounds from Steven Slate's SSD-5 drums.

I am playing the fretless bass and via my breath and keyboard controllers the small saw and the Swam Cello. I am also playing via my keyboard controller the kettle drums, cymbals, and percussion. If anyone is interested in this free Saw VSTi you can get it here:

https://rekkerd.org/cmusic-production-releases-small-saw-free-singing-saw-kontakt-library/

As always all comments are welcomed.

Mario,

This is such a great sound. It has a very mysterious feel. Excellent use of all of your components.

Your musicianship is shining as always!

Love the “singing saw”!! You are so creative and fearless to go beyond the typical boundaries to get to the new and different—inspiring. Even your title is creatively funny. Work like this helps me to think outside the box, much thanks.

PS.. in the same category as the saw vst..do you know of a good mouth harp vst?

What great sound Mario!! - I have a friend - Tim the Sawman - who jams with me with a SAW!! The sound is ethereal and enchanting. I really like the ocean effects, and cello. Beautiful.

Hauntingly beautiful - the saw creates such a unique mood, and you build a great song from it.
By the way, my older sister's former father-in-law also played it, but you wouldn't have wanted to hear it.

Thanx Charlie. I'm not so sure about that "you are a master in creating masterpieces". I'm just an old guy having a ton of fun with BiaB and my instruments.

Thanx Tom. At times I like getting out of my comfort zone and not only trying something new but also showing that there are no limits to what BiaB can create. Plus the fact that my brain is a half a bubble off center helps!

I have seen a couple of sites offering mouth harps but I have no experience with them. I did play one once though!

Mario, beautifully brooding tune! Sweet work on the saw and cello. Love what you've done with the strings and how they swell wave-like on the edges starting at about 1:00. Then the kettle drum (I think) takes on a similar role later on. Just an enjoyable, adventurous composition and arrangement. Enjoyed it a bunch!

Thanx Elliott. I really like the sound of the saw. I have never heard one played until I heard that free VSTi. I knew that I had to DL it and use it in a song. You should post something with Tim the Sawman. I know you have the "tools" to do it wink

Thanx Ron for noticing the strings and kettle drums as that was my goal. Thanx for those other very nice comments also.

Atmospheric as all get out. The saw was almost like a theramin. Very well done, start to finish.

Sea saws can't cut through WAVs this solid. We used to have a saw player come to our jams here, but he then moved up by you. He wasn't even close to this good. I love this soundscape, Mario. You set the scene well with your words, but, man, this music could be used for so many many scenarios. Your creativity is over the top.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanx Janice and Bud. I'm glad that you like my adventures. BiaB makes my journeys possible and without it I would be playing guitar and singing Louie Louie over and over again smile

Thanx so much. Yes the saw does somewhat sound like a theramin.
