Just reporting an oddity ... the workaround is obvious.
I'm about to install 1125e on my desktop PC, the downloaded .exe of which I'bve put into C:/bb/Downloads though I van't remember if I donloaded it direct when I updataed my laptop or used the download manager. (bb2025_win_update_build1125e.exe)
I expected the download manager to show [Downloaded] on the update buttons, but it doesn't, it shows [Download]. Ditto with all the other entries on that window .. HiQ instruments, Playable RealTrack, RelTrack sets 449 through 467.
Now I know all the RealTrack sets are installed, because they show in "what add-ons do I have?", so they're definitely downloaded and installed.
If I look at the other pages on the download manager, Xtra Styles and XPro styles show as [Installed], so the download manager understands some of what's done, so it looks loike there's some kind of hole in the logic here.
Doing the obvious ... downloading again.

It might be that the system recognizes numbers but not the appended letter? If so, I suppose I should say it again: change anything at all, change the build number.

It seems to have downloaded and installed bandinabox_realband_2025_full.exe and does now show 1125e in About, which probably explains that particular discrepancy. I think the installed version was 1124, so it would fail to identify the download and is probably correct about it not installed.
I've just copied the other files from my fileserver to C:/BBDownloads to see what it makes of those. That's about 30GB of data I think doesn't really need to be installed. It know they're downloaded, but thinks they still need to be installed. As before, I'll do it for HiQ and playable tracks as I'm not sure how to tell if they're installed, but the RealTrack sets are definitely already installed.
Edit: It also appears to not know about the 2025_0pak, which I've just installed manually.

A few points: - If you are running the download manager on a new PC it wouldn't know whether or not you have installed the product on that PC. - If you had copied all of the downloaded installer files to your new PC, it would know that they are downloaded, provided you were pointing it to the correct downloads folder (where you copied the files). - If there are newer files available it would indicate that there is a "newer file available" and it would want to download them. Since most files have been updated, that would make sense

Hmm, OK.
- It isn't a new PC and I believe I installed everything but the 2025 BiaB+RB part, which I left for a while in case of a rush of updates.
- When I copied the 2025-1125e .exe across it didn't recobgnise it as the update, but the update that the download manager fetched was a different file.
- When I copied other files from a BBDownloads copy, it recognised that they were all downloaded, but not installed.
- I installed the hiq and playable realtracks and they now show as installed.
- The realtrack .exe and flac .7z files show as downloaded but not installed, though they're shown in "What add-ons...". I can select them in BiaB and they play. The flac files are present.
- It doesn't mention newer files, though it did know that the BiaB & RB for download+install was 1125e.
Now I think about this, I have a feeling that the download manager may have updated before this ... perhaps that's a factor?
I'm installing the RealTracks again, but I have to go out. I'll update this post later with informatiuon aboutwhat DM then reports.

Ok, if it's the same PC and the files show as downloaded but not installed, then you installed them before Dec 17, which was when the download manager was updated to save the install status for each file between sessions.

Gordon, +++ HERE +++ is a link to obtain v1.0.87 released December 24, 2024. I missed this update until recently and through the download manager I discovered a few files awaiting updates. I'm glad you started this thread about the download manager. As you've discovered it is a pretty easy way to keep Band-in-a-Box and RealBand up-to-date.

When I copied the 2025-1125e .exe across it didn't recobgnise it as the update, but the update that the download manager fetched was a different file. The install manager looks for specific file names, and the version number is not in the filename. For example, the BB/RB installer for an UltraPAK is called "bandinabox_realband_2025_full.exe" while the installer for Pro would be "bandinabox_realband_2025_pro.exe" - this file name would be the same for every build version. As well, the install manager looks for the most recent full installer, not an update file which is the bb2025_win_update_build1125e.exe you downloaded.

Ok, if it's the same PC and the files show as downloaded but not installed, then you installed them before Dec 17, which was when the download manager was updated to save the install status for each file between sessions. OK, I'm pretty sure the DownLoad manager did upgrade today, It looks as though I bought the upgrade on 17th, so probably just missed the update of the download manager. I can confirm that the version I now have, 1.0.87, reports the various software and packs installed as I'd expected, though it dodn't before I installed them all again. That appears to conflict with Simon's answer as most of the files were already installed, hence my puzzlement. I'll mark the thread resolved. Thanks guys.

That's not what I meant - I was talking about the install manager reporting files as downloaded rather than installed. For the install manager to report a file as downloaded, it needs to be the exact file name that the program expects - eg, "bandinabox_realband_2025_full.exe" would show Band-in-a-Box and RealBand 2025 Full as downloaded (or would let you know if it's out of date), where "bb2025_win_update_build1125e.exe" would not register at all.

Ok, I see. Yes I'd presumed the name was the issue with the downloded full/patch files. You're right that I took your post to be about installed, rather than downloaded, as the RealTracks were installed but not showing as such in the download manager. Thanks Simon.
