That's a lot of fun. They named their harmony dynamic "Harvey", and new Harvey was special. Still is...
A lot of early stereo records had the vocals isolated on one channel. I learned a lot of what I know about harmony theory by panning the car stereo to the vocal channel. It was what passed for fun back in the day...

A lot of early stereo records had the vocals isolated on one channel. I remember getting the Beatles remastered box set one year as a gift. I got the cans out and imagine by disappointment when the music was on one side and the vox on the other. That's how they did things. It sounds good when played on my little boom box thing because the speakers are really close together and you don't get the stereo effect in the room.

My wife recently described that general era as "the era of harmonies", 60s through 70s, and it's true there were quite a few. The various 'Brothers" and "Sisters, Beach Boys, Simon and Garfunkle, Wishbone Ash, Capability Brown, many more I'm sure,
Jazz relative beginner, starting at a much older age than was helpful.

Today one group that can sing with no autotune is Foxes and Fossils: Oh yes, they've really kept the polish shining very brightly on harmonies. Outstanding.
