Heavy Traffic

Something different, probably not for everyone's musical taste.

I was playing around with some of BIAB's horns and decided to do something with them. This is a full horn section with Latin funk percussions. It's a bit loud - and kinda busy. But so is heavy traffic. Thus, the title. This is the first time I've seriously used any of the horns in BIAB. I'll wait and see what you folks think. Thanks in advance.

Alan

Very groovy shuffle and it really does conjure up heavy traffic. Ace soundtrack material.

1st thought was Mondrian's Broadway Boogie Woogie.
the horns really are the traffic and the arrangement is the jam in this little doughnut.
COOL.

COOL.

Hi Ray,

It's always great to see your name on comments to my songs. I'm not familiar with Mondrian's Broadway Boogie Woogie. I'll check that out tomorrow.

I'll take COOL anytime. Much appreciation for that. Will be looking for your next post.

Take care,

Alan

Ha! Definitely something new from you, and a lot of funky fun. Nice stereo image on those horns, and you've given them an interesting harmonic path to strut through. Subtle-but-effective percussion, too. Super mix as usual. Nice one, Alan!

Have only rarely used the BiaB horn sections, but you've got me thinking I should give them another try.

Tower of Power meets Average White Band. As usual your excellent mix adds character to the well chosen real tracks. You are quite the creative craftsman. Another good one!

Suits me just fine and wow, does it capture traffic (honking horns)! I love funk. This has a nice retro 70's feel to it. Lovin' what you've been creating lately, Alan, and I can tell you're enjoying yourself.

Hi Al.
I imagined I just walked into a crowded night club during the cabaret.
Sounds real.

We were talking last night about how we've never used horns ... due mostly to lack of knowledge.
Your dive into their use is great! Maybe we oughta go for it ... hmmm.

And, hey, something this funky has about gotta have a horn section! smile
Great use of those percussion tracks also.

All of the above is wrapped in a nice open mix with cool dynamics.

Well done by the BiaB track master!

Alan,

Now that's a groove! Love the tracks selections, especially the drums and horns. Awesome mix!

Hi Ron,

Many thanks for those very nice words. As I mentioned, this was my first serious attempt to use the horns. For the most part, I'm happy with the results. My only complaint, if you will, is that they're a bit staccato. A bit more fluidity would have been nice!

Take care,

Alan

Hi Beth,

Many thanks for the listen wonderful comments. The music is a bit of a diversion from my everyday challenges. My wife has quickly-advancing dementia and the prognosis is not good. We're hoping she's still here to celebrate Christmas with us this year. It's questionable. But we carry on, making the best of every day.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for taking the time to comment so nicely.

Alan

Hey, y'all,

Uh, yeah ... maybe you should give it an effort at some time. I'm not very knowledgeable about them, but I gave it a try. It could have turned out worse!

Track master? I appreciate that. Hopefully, my efforts are moving in that direction.

As always, I appreciate your support and kindness.

Wishing you everything good.

Howdy, Bob!

Thanks for the visit and very nice comments. The track selection was my biggest challenge. I swapped out the bass and drums from the original style and added several Latin percussions. It's great to hear it works for you. Thanks for letting me know.

Take care,

Alan

Very sorry to hear of your wife's health, Alan. It's so very hard to watch a loved one slip away...that uncertainty really takes a toll. I hope you can find solace in the music.

Oh, different to be sure, but there is that one quality of sameness that says, "Alan David wrote this." I, too, have tried many times to use the BiaB. I KNEW there was something in there, and you have proved me right, Alan. First of all, you composed a fine piece of music to showcase them, and added in a ton of groovy interest. A horn section like that definitely needs five drummers. Well done.

Enjoy whatever happens!
