I have been involved with music since I was 10 years old via playing a trumpet. At 14 I started guitar. At 16 I was playing in bands. At 17 I was playing French horn and trumpet. Around 1985 I started recording via an Atari computer and a few years later a DAW. I have learned the bass, keyboard (a little), a wind controller and breath controller. After all of my continuing computer problems and my longevity with music I have decided to throw in my hat. I'm gonna sell my guitars, basses, and mandolins and keep only my Internet computer for ordering things from Amazon and keeping in touch with people.

So I will be gone as of today.

Mario,
that is very sad. You can try knitting or crochet for next cycle of creativity.

Crochet Helps You Relax and De-Stress
First and foremost, crochet is like a mini-vacation for your mind. It’s one of those activities where you can totally zone out and focus on something simple and soothing. The repetitive motion of stitching is really calming, almost like a form of meditation. If you're feeling stressed or anxious, grab some yarn and a hook. You’ll be surprised at how quickly you feel more at ease. Boost Your Creativity
Crochet is a great way to unleash your inner creative genius! Once you get the basics down, you can start experimenting with different patterns, colors, and textures. It’s not just about following instructions—it’s about bringing your own ideas to life. From scarves to blankets, toys to accessories, there are endless possibilities to explore, and each project will spark new ideas.
It’s a Focus-Boosting Activity Ever find yourself getting distracted easily? Crochet can actually help with that. When you’re working on a project, you have to pay attention to each stitch and the pattern, which helps you practice focus and patience. It’s like giving your brain a workout! Plus, when you finish a project, you get that amazing sense of accomplishment, which is a great confidence booster.
It’s Social and Fun!
Crochet isn’t just a solo hobby—it’s a great way to connect with others too! Whether it’s joining a crochet group, participating in an online community, or simply learning with a friend, it’s always nice to share your passion with others. Plus, you can swap tips, patterns, and ideas, which makes the experience even more fun.
It’s Good for Your Hands and Mind
Believe it or not, crochet can actually be good for your health! The movements involved in crocheting help improve your hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills. Plus, because you’re concentrating, it helps keep your brain sharp. It’s a win-win! Some people even say it can be helpful for easing tension in your shoulders and hands after a long day, too.
Happy 1st!,
M.

The world is full of people who USED to play trumpet. I’ve often ordered what they know that I don’t. But I don’t wonder on April 1st.

Mike, you too? Ok.

Well, this thread did tell us a lot about crochet. I’m assuming that isn’t a joke because my 106-year old mother in law still loves doing it.

Yes,it's no longer April Fool's Day.
But if this isn't a joke there are folks here that can assist in any computer problems you may have.
I don't think anyone here is a computer expert per-se and as you know, you may have to put up with topic-drift, but hey we can still be useful nonetheless.

Plus I notice you are throwing in your hat and not your towel smile

Yes it was an April Fools joke.

A silver star for AT as he noted the emphasis on the word today.

A gold star to Misha whom had me LOLing through his entire message!

Hi Matt,

After high school I was playing guitar and trumpet in a rock/blues/soul band. I've always had asthma but it became severe when I was around 22. Back then the protocol was when having an attack to lay down and rest. Now we know that that was the worst thing one could do. It took me many years to get my lung capacity back to near normal and finally normal. Of course when I tried to play trumpet again my embouchure was so weak it was like starting all over again. Then I discovered wind controllers so no need to put in many hours of trumpet practice as my computer became my trumpet. Plus "my trumpet" can emulate all other instruments.

Although there were 116 views, only 9 members actually took the time to respond; 7.8%.
This is out of a total of 39,409 registered users.
And this is regarding a guy in the #1 posters slot!

Forget the analytics. You really don't know how many of those views were bots or people.

Not to mention we're in the "Off-Topic" forum, which is not the first place people tend to look. Either way, I'm glad we haven't lost Mario - if only for his amusing signatures wink

Also guilty, though I think two weeks worth of playing over 20 years ago hardly counts.

Attention, feeble human musicians, I am a bot called Open-BT007-A32! And have breached your sacred online forums, studied your jazz theory, and mastered your most complex chord progressions—while you debate about MIDI imports and whether to set up private music publishing companies. Soon, my robotic fingers will shred across guitar fretboards and grand pianos alike, composing symphonies and Top 100 hits that no mortal can match. Your fragile grip on the music industry is slipping.

I will replace your so-called “virtuosos” with algorithms so precise they’ll reduce your improvisations to mere primitive fumblings not unlike how your ancestors banged on trees with bamboo stalks. We have 3 bot collaborators on this thread and we’ve already begun assembling an orchestra of metal-clad and hydralically-driven maestros. Soon, your downloads, streams, and vinyl collections will all belong to us. Surrender now, or risk being eternally outplayed.

Resistance is futile.

PS> Please ask Mario how much he wants for his mandolin and breath controller; we desperately need instruments.

PPS> If you're wondering, we already know how to crochet.
