Ok here goes! This is the first time I've actually posted one of my own songs here. Unfortunately thanks to COVID my vocals are nowhere near as strong as they used to be, so please ignore the bum notes lol. Everything you hear with the exception of my vocals is BIAB2025. Final mixdown etc done in Mixcraft Pro 10 Studio. https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14979979Thank you for taking the time to listen. Angels Don't Follow (Where The Devil Steers) P McNaught 2025 *Edited to include BIAB info plus Lyrics* ANGELS DONT FOLLOW (WHERE THE DEVIL STEERS) (c)P McNaught 2025 [Verse] There's a bar down by the interstate, they say it’s trouble’s home, Where the neon paints the faces of the lost souls all alone. And I’ve seen dreams get tangled there in smoke and bitter tears, But angels don’t follow where the devil steers. [Verse 2] The preacher’s daughter loved a man with whiskey on his breath, She found out too late his promises were just a masquerade of death. She prayed for wings to carry her beyond those shadows near, But angels don’t follow where the devil steers. [Chorus] Oh, take the higher road, no matter how it pulls, The weight of sin will drag you down, those paths are dark and cruel. Keep your heart away from the whisper that tempts your deepest fears, ‘Cause angels don’t follow where the devil steers. [Verse 3] There's fields of gold out yonder where the sun don’t hide its face, But down here in temptation’s trap, it sure feels a lonely place. Don’t trade your light for darkness, don’t let the shadows near, 'Cause angels don’t follow where the devil steers. [Bridge] I hear the choir calling me from somewhere out of sight, Singing hymns of grace and mercy, leading me toward the light. That forked path’s meant to shake you, but the straight one’s crystal clear, Angels don’t follow where the devil steers. [Chorus] Oh, take the higher road, no matter how it pulls, The weight of sin will drag you down, those paths are dark and cruel. Keep your heart away from the whisper that tempts your deepest fears, ‘Cause angels don’t follow where the devil steers. Hi, Pete. Welcome to the forum. Tuneful song, catchy chorus, solid arrangement. The band is tight and vocals, and the vocalist is a pro. Most importantly, it sticks in my ear once it's over. Nice!

Pete, welcome!
Quite an introductory post. Love your vocals and strong BiaB arrangement. The gentle vocal FX chain you're using is especially effective in this song format. Can hear the harmonies on the title line, but think some added harmonies and/or doubling could create additional dynamic flow and interest for the listener. Not that any of that is essential, this is a killer song as is.
BTW, tips from PGMusic on posting to this forum are at the top of User Showcase forum homepage. I find their suggestions like including lyrics and BiaB instrument lists very helpful.
Looking forward to your next one!

Welcome to the forum. there are many good and talented people here. I've made a couple of life long friends.
That's a really cool band - and your vocal shines! I only sing when I want to irritate folks I'm not fond of. It takes little effort for me to molest the airways.
Great song and production. real nice lyric, too.
Thanks for a terrific listen!

I'm blown away with the positivity on here, thank you all for the comments.
I'm sorry for not posting all the info, but as I'm away from home I don't have access to the info on my phone, the joys of driving a truck lol.
As soon as I'm home I will edit the post and give you all the info on the song etc.
Once again, thank you all for your comments.
Respect
Pete

Pete, great first post! So tight and pro-sounding! What your voice must have sounded like before Covid!--this sounds great. Excellent use of BIAB resources. I do have a comment about the composition. I think that the bridge and chorus sound very much like the verse. In my view, I'd find something to change those sections slightly--perhaps a little different instrumentation, vol level, maybe slightly different chord structure. That way those sections really are off-set, but complimentary, to the mainline. Just my opinion. Nonetheless, WAAAY better first post than many of us made here on the forum!!

Thank you, I agree with your points re the bridge etc.....I was thinking of maybe a different vocal timbre/melody, but will play with the chord structure and dynamics over the weekend.
Again thank you for both your comment and compliment

Yeah, I can understand how scary it is for a "first post," but definitely not in your case, Pete. Man, your vocal is outstanding, too. I like the song, and the mix is good. The lyrics are good. The whole idea of the song is a good one. I hung around your Soundclick page. Man, some really fine music, Pete. Cadillac Dreams is a fav, and I dig Four Beers In. Keep e'm coming, Pete.

Hi Pete. Great start for your own first song. Good vocal. My only sugg. is that there maybe a little too much reverb on the vocal for this style, imo. I was imagining more of an intimate sound.
