Well, that crazy devil chick in the tight jeans I met in the bar with the fire coming out of her belly told me I had to up my game, so we went to the music store and she made me buy a 1950s standard Les Paul. Then she sent me down to the crossroads to have a guitar lesson with the devil!

They added some other clause to my contract after the lessons, and I have no idea what it said.

But, anyway, she also gave me a full make over and a red bandana for my head, and we are on a sold-out tour of Europe and playing for a week on the Acropolis..

Good Lord!!

What have I gotten myself into. This is only the second song I ever played on a guitar but people are screaming so who knows!!! I hope I don't go to hell now!!

Nuthin' wrong with a 50s LP down by the crossroads. Understandable that folks are screamin'. Like the tone and the reverb so thick you almost have to climb over it. The theme is almost off the rails, then completely off the rails, then kinda back on the rails, then...hey, what are rails for, anyway? The cascading reverb near the end was a lot of fun, too. Very ambitious and enjoyable composition. I can certainly see why you've been so busy. smile

Hi David!
Never before have I heard such a poor excuse for buying a guitar - "The devil made me do it". laugh laugh

Seriously though, there are some incredible bends on that guitar track which add magnificently to the story the guitar is telling. I love some of the chord changes you have - I'm a sucker for a chord progression containing borrowed chords. e.g. around 0.49.

Take a few half steps here and there. And let it flow or rip.

I like the times you surprised with the major 3rd.

Tone was pretty decent.

David,

You need to make an album of this stuff... Otherworldly playing.

Thanks DC! Yes, "off the rails" may be a term, but perhaps the official term is "improv from outer space"?

smile

Anyway thanks for the listen. Appreciate it bro. I am pretty happy with that tone.

Hey David, this reminded me of Europa somewhat, similar changes I think?

Nice tone. Looking forward to hearing guitar song #3! wink

I think it's very good. There are a few imperfections, but overall it's very nice. So good luck with your tour!

For some reason, I was expecting a raucous tune, but I was pleasantly surprised by the gentle, flowing composition. I enjoyed it.

Hi, David.

Playing electric guitar is pretty much a sure-fire path to hell. wink

It's almost like someone took a wild and screaming solo, slowed it down 400%, and added a jazzy backing track.

Fun listen!

My first thought in reading you post was, Man, this guy needs a new agent who has an attorney that reads the whole contract. But after listening to what you brought back from the crossroads, I say to hell with contracts. Outstanding playing, David. Excellent taste and timing. Good Larry Carlton sound, like from that movie Against All Odds.

Enjoy whatever happens!

David, that is a new excuse for buying a guitar. I'm gonna use it on my next purchase but without the bar part. I'll meet the devil girl at the music store!
Nice chops
Fantastic tone
Great mix

Hi David,

If you'd played this live from the Acropolis, the Greek would have had an uprise!
And we're glad they didn't do that, as far as we've heard on the news.
Those Greeks are such a hot-tempered people...
So I think you were on a hill opposite of that temple. Am I right?

Your playing on that newly bought guitar is nice and in times out of tune. But you did that on purpose, I think.
This is the second instrumental I heard from your hand. They are nice, but I am honest; I'd rather hear you singing.
But it is great to step out of your groove once in a while. I do that all the time...

Hans
