I'm still getting the problem when I rebuild
I'd be grateful for some help.
This problem might be because of a corrupt file
BIAB should have handled such an error more gracefully, but it appears that is not the case.
The problem may be with corruption in the file: "1_Piano VT 2 C (with melody 1).mgu", but I don't seem to have this file on my system.
I would report this to PG Music Support, and reference this thread, explaining what you have already done, and ask for a solution.

Close Band-in-a-Box, and rename your bb\Preferences folder to Preferences_old. Then launch Band-in-a-Box and try rebuilding again. Does it still happen?
Andrew, you almost gor me exceited there, but no, its just the same. There isn't anything I haven't changed and still the error comes up. I have emeiled the exception details to your support.
I used the automatic process from the error and this sent it to
support@pgmusic
I can't attach a text file here and its a bit long for a comment. If you want me to send it direct please let me have your email address.
Here is the start:
An exception error has occurred. You can continue to use the program but should likely save your work and reboot program.

I would like to go back to the 2025 version prior to the 1128 build. Unfortunately I used the instrall manager and don't have a copy. Is there a way I can get access to it?
Thanks we got the file. Yes, I agree you should try the previous 2025 build. To do this, you simply need to install the patch over top (it will tell you that you are installing an earlier build, and can just say okay).
Next it will take a little bit of troubleshooting. Duplicate your Styles folder so you have a backup of your full Styles folder. Next, open the Styles folder in Explorer and sort by date modified (List or Details view is easiest) (1) Remove all files dated within the last year (or move them to some temporary folder). Try rebuilding (fast rebuild). Does the error still happen? (2) Repeat but remove all files dated within the last six years. (3) If the problem still happens remove all except for the ZZ* styles. Let us know the result.
Hi Andrew, Well ... I went through all the styles methodically removing them by year until I was left with only the ZZ styles and STILL the error appeared. In desperation I tried the same with Realtracks. By the time this process was complete I was sick of seeing the error message and decidided on the nuclear option.
I renamed the bb folder as bbOld and did a full install of 2025 from Install Manager.
Everything is working now as exepected..
I then added in all me additional user stypes and songs. Tested again and all OK.
So, the problem was clearly inside that old BB folder, but where? I don't care now.
One thing that did puzzle me though, When I was initially trying to isolate the issue, I tried the 32 bit verion. This version complained about activation and that I didn't have a valid ticket! Anywqay, it still let me open the application and the styles rebuild was sucessful, with no error problem. This was going to be my workaround.
Why was I not able activate the 32 bit version and why did it not see the error that the 64-bit version did.
Oh, strange! Okay glad you have been able to fix it! Regarding activation, there is no 32bit version of 2025, so that would be an older version - likely 2024 - that you haven't activated previously.
And that's probably why it didn't find the error. I noticed the icon points to bbw.exe and the (dated 2024) when opening it shows 2025 32-bit, but I'm guessing that is how it behaves because this was a first time 2025 install. I can delete that icon from the desktop

Andrew:
I clicked on BBW.EXE and it opened up the 32bit version and I show it activated. (1) Is it ok to deactivate the 32bit since I never use it and it won't affect the 64bit version that is activated under a newer serial number when I upgraded to the 2025 version and (2) can I delete the following files?
BBW.EXE BBW2_32.exe BBW4_32.exe

Perfect - you should only need the 64-bit shortcut (bbw64.exe)

1: Yes - however this will affect the 2024 version (both 32-bit and 64-bit), so if you still use 2024 on the same computer you should not deactivate. 2: We advise against deleting any files from your bb folder.
