Excellent tune Mario. I can see the ladies sipping Tom Collins and the men three fingers of bourbon and ice. Super mellow and relaxing. Well done

"I did this just for the fun of it."
Thank you!

I (Bud) used to drop by the Holiday Inn while in grad school (1969) to see who was playing.
I was managing some rock bands at the time was a lover of many musical genres.
But the Inn introduced me to jazz. And man did this take me back to that.

Played to perfection by you, great supporting session folks and a good mix.

Enjoyed it!

Mario,

You have quite the talent for titling your instrumental tunes . . . they really capture the vibe your song gives off, as well as tick at one’s curiosity. Production and mix is excellent, as is the instrumental and sound choices. Good stuff!!

Thanx Deej. Sometimes I name my instrumentals first then compose while other times it is in reverse. This one started out with a different title but the song led me to the current title.

Nice song, guitar and sax, Mario!

I enjoyed the mellow 1960s lounge vibe, you captured it well.

Mario, you reminded me of the times living in a smaller town where the only place that the real players could stretch out was the local hotel lounge..usually wasn’t very crowded, but the small-town jazz masters were really good, just no high profile venue. Thanks for “painting” this late-night memory.

One of your best. Relaxed me so much. Much more complex than it seems at first glance, and made to sound easy. Loved it - bravo.

Thanx Tom. A number of years ago we had a few jazz lounges around here. Unfortunately they no long exist. In fact there are very few live music places left and those that do don't pay a lot to play there. Karaoke and DJs have taken over.

Cool stuff.

Grooving at the Holiday Inn.... that takes me back many many years to when I was getting started in the band scene. There was a guy in town who played all the country clubs, high end events, and of course the Holiday Inn lounge as well as The Tiki Club. I never played with this guy. He was a hard task master, played lots of jazz stuff and expected his musicians to play the correct chords. If it was an Ab7#5 you better not play a plain old A bar chord. And he paid his musicians as little as possible. As a result, he only worked with a few players and only when they needed money and weren't doing something else. As a result, he often played alone and used the drums and orchestration in his keyboard rather than hiring musicians.

Anyway... I digress..... Yep that hit the spot.

Thanx Herb I'm glad it brought back some memories.

PS - I would fire the musician whom played an A barre chord when the rest of the band was playing an Ab7#5.

Many years ago I auditioned for a funk band that wanted every part to be played exactly liked the record. I said then why wouldn't people just play the record? I wasn't interested in the job and they weren't interested in me.
