A song about continuing to reach.
And grow.

I'll dedicate this to all of those here in the Showcase who do just that.
(Musically, that is)

A co-write with Bill Osofsky.
From 2013.
I always intended to re-mix this.
I did not. It was done a couple of computers ago in a previous DAW...

All the tracks are BIAB (2013)
(but I'd have to dig for that list along with the tracks....)

Lyrics on the web page.

OVER THE HILL

Be creative.

Floyd,

Now that is an anthem for those of us of a certain age! Love the lyrics and your vocal is tremendous. Hard to believe this is from 2013 - it sounds so fresh.

This mix is great. Huge and punchy. Clear and present.

This is one for the road with the windows wide open!

Hi, Floyd.

Ha! I didn't - but should have - seen "really a love song" coming in the lyrics. laugh

This is from 2013? Dang! So good!

My new theme song for living! Of course I loved the message. Singing was the usual classic, oh so satisfying FJ trademark delivery. The 'worth it/unearth it' rhyme was priceless. The lyric switched gears a little, touting personal courage, then switching to a woman's love, but not really a big deal, because this is a classic!

Fun song!

I've started slowly remixing some of my older songs. Difference is I wasn't that good at mixing back then so they all badly need it wink I hear nothing wrong with this mix, sounds perfect to me.

Great listen as always, Floyd, we are lucky to have you on this forum.

Enjoyed my listen, and, as always, could consider this an education on solid songwriting--not to mention the performance and production. Rhymes were great, melody construction, theme--all first-class. Thanks for sharing!

Cool country rocker.

Good job way back on the song.

Yes indeed. Growth. It comes in many forms. Like you said, learning to play an instrument, or maybe just reviving the skills and knocking off the rust. It comes from taking one tiny step forward. It comes from digging deeper into the creative parts of our souls and it comes from embracing new things, new technology, and it comes from finding new ways to work to produce something that would have been seemingly impossible just a few years ago. To sit afar, aloof, and refuse to celebrate this growth, isn't growth. So it's good to see you embracing growth. May we all continue to grow and expand our horizons for as long as we are alive and have the opportunity to grow.

BTW: I like that old song.

I wish I wasn't at the point where I related to this song. Alas, I do. It's a great write altogether and the vocal sounds strong and full. Fun chorus. Here's to growing...even if it's growing old.

Ha HA! Definitely a relatable anthem for this forum. SUPER song construction, and STRONG vocals. LOVE the bridge. Nice hook with just enough repetition to keep it fun and singalong-able. Am sure I'll be hearing this as I'm drifting off to sleep tonight...

Floyd,
A wonderful rocker! Your vocal is magnificent, and lots of instrumental elements pop up throughout this song like prairie dogs - meant in a good way.
‘Over the hill’ and looking upon a lush valley filled with a community of like-minded souls who are generous with sharing and helping one another. That’s what this forum feels like to me - a wonderful place to be.

"I know in my heart..."
That line says it all about the song, sentiment & performance. 2013 a dozen years later ... golden egg I reckon though, if I took a gander, you're no goose.

Floyd...first off thanks for the encouragement...I've felt that way recently (over the hill that is)...but I've discovered that over the hill there's another hill...so suck it up and start a new climb...love the message here and a great little kickin' tune to go with the great lyric...you never disappoint!

Great theme and lyrics - "life ain't over, over the hill" - a really engaging rocker from the start with an excellent chorus and of course a great arrangement and production.

Floyd, as one who pasted the hill's zenith a few years ago I can really relate to this song.
Also the part about a woman's love; I met mine in 1964!
As usual everything is professional.
A great find from 2013.
Loved it

Right from the count-in it's easy to see this ain't gonna be a beautiful country ballad. What a musical treat, Floyd. Pounding feeling with excellent lyrics and that top-of-the-line vocal that comes with the name Floyd Jane. Musically engaging and the mix allows us to ride many paths to the magic. A wonderrul collab, Floyd.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Thanks, Bob. Unearth was Bill's doing - as was the cliche switch (but we were both always guilty of that....)
