I like to share my music with friends and family. Soundcloud is not making that easy for us. Many have told me that SC now requires a visitor to sign up for an Account in order to visit my site. I confirmed that is not entirely true, but it sure appears that way.
If I log out, then try to access my music from my link ( My SoundCloud ), I get into the site, BUT if I try to play any music I get this...
Most of any buttons you can push now are just to create an account. Except you can hit "ESC" and you are full in! Most folks will stop before trying the keboard ESC button.
Thanks, Dan. I just tried it and it works exactly as you said. I'm hoping it's an unexpected glitch in Soundcloud's processing since they seem to be updating the site at the moment.
I was logged out of SoundCloud on my iPhone and couldn't figure out how to bypass the account login/creation screen, which means I couldn't listen to the song I linked to. If this is unavoidable, it stinks...

Our music is available on all the streaming platforms; however, this post addresses the exact reason we also put our videos and audio tracks on our website to share on facebook and with friends.
We decided a few years ago to no longer expose them to the vagaries of net platforms sans membership.

Our albums and singles are on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, YouTube Music, Pandora and more. If interested search on Janice Merritt. Thanks! Our Videos
There's an "x" on the upper-right corner of the screen in a white circle that you can also click. It's placed far away from the logon window, so it's not obvious what the function is.
This is one of those evil patterns where you don't have to log in, but it gives the impression that you have to. I now include instructions on how to bypass the login screen when I send someone links to my music.
I thought that way also, but what are they to do, they have a business to run?
I really appreciate having all these years of free storage of my music on the web. But I have no interest in promotion or marketing my tunes. It is just there to share with my family and friends. Only recently I discovered this "deception" to force visitors to create an account. Some family said they could not figure out how to sign up for an account (which by the way is free). But, I had always assumed no account was necessary to just listen. Then I found the "tip", by the way I still don't see the "x". I suspect this is platform specific. But the "esc key" works well. I am near hitting my max limit on the site. I suspect I will pony up some cash to pay them to host my music. That is a value to me.

Not seeing the "x" in iOS on my iPhone...

I usually get a pop up on my screen urging me to create an account or sign in. This pop up has the "X" in the upper right side of the screen. I just click it and everything works
You can find my music at: www.herbhartley.com Add nothing that adds nothing to the music. You can make excuses or you can make progress but not both.
The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.

I’m on an iPad, logged out of my SC account, then tried to get in without an account - and couldn’t. So I asked Otto (the SC robotto) and got this response … see attachment.
