𝒲𝒽𝑒𝓃 𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝒩𝒾𝑔𝒽𝓉 𝒞𝒶𝓁𝓁𝓈

Hello fellow Forum sonic architects

This song contains zero preaching and zero hidden messages.

It is all about enjoying the song creation process from "Hey, I've got a spark of an idea to "I really, really hate this #^%@* 'n song."

Passion, frustration, love, hatred, the desperate search for a rhyme that isn't 'moon' and 'spoon'... it's all in there.

Please give it a spin. I hope it clicks. If it does, you’ve gained a friend. If it doesn't, just know that I took the hit for you.

Yours in perpetual creative torment,

Izzy

Izzy, I really enjoyed listening, and there were lots of things in here I found interesting! Loved the a cappella portions….really liked that cool organ ending…. I found it overall very creative work. Great vocals as well. Thanks for posting this!

Izzy, far and away the best thing I've heard from you. It begins so modestly, but builds spectacularly. That vocal is fire! (I've never used that word that way before.) This sounds like indy rock or alt rock to me, but I can hear it as a winner of NPR's annual Tiny Desk contest. Truthfully, I am so jealous, I wish I had done this. But I'm also so happy for you, that you unearthed this musical gem! You've definitely earned some solace, as your lyrics yearn for.

Izzy, nicely crafted tune. AMAZING vocals and a nifty overall vocal arrangement. Really like the production choices throughout and how the mix breathes. The female vocal samples work really nice, too. The forum is seeing a lot of "by friend" type credits as code words for AI, so I'm sure inquiring minds will want to know. SUPER SONG either way though. smile

Hi Izzy!
Really good vocals as already commented - you get a lot of emotion out of your voice. You’ve done really well to arrange a lot of variation in the backing band - enough that each section sounds unique, but not so much that it moves from the overall feel. Lots of light and shade in there. Love that musical interlude including that ‘piping’ sound - in fact I wanted that to come back again - as an alternate outro?

Is it a song about vampires? No - you said no hidden meanings.

Another epic from you Izzy,

Everything about this, you and your sound is original. You cram in so much variation and texture in instruments, arrangement, vocals and incidentals, that you kept me hanging and wanting to know where you were you’re going. Lyrically as well, you weave an interesting landscape. Vocally the opening reminded me of RHCP, but the verses had a hint of U2 about it. A great way to close the song too, wasn’t expecting it to break like that.

Top notch, Izzy. Regards.

Cool song. There's a lot going on in the stereo panning... I'll have to come back for the full experience on my cans later.

Great job on this.

Izzy, this is fantastic. What a brilliant arrangement. Loved that ending and those backing vocals. Super vocal, fantastic lyrics, and a perfect mix.
Loved it

PS - you said no hidden message but to me I think it is a song about Barnabas Collins!

Wow … anthemic all the way.
Parsing this out is beyond our production pay grade. smile

The complexity of the tracks required and received a great arrangement and mix.
Your ability to present such an open mix (with the subtle dynamics) is remarkable.

Me, Myself, I and the samples sound excellent.

Nice BiaB session guys along with your friends on guitar and organ.

Stadium filling and we enjoyed it!

Hi Izzy,

Really cool song, Izzy! In my opinion, your best yet.

So many little things working perfectly together. The varitions were nice, and your vocal is stellar on this. This is good music!

Hi Tom,

Thanks so much for such an awesome review! You've clearly got sharp ears – catching the a cappella love and that "cool organ ending" (which I secretly worried might just sound like a spaceship taking off, so phew!).

"Very creative work" and "great vocals" – you just put a massive smile on my face. That feedback is gold.

Really appreciate you taking the time!

All the best, Izzy

Bob,

This review is absolutely phenomenal—thank you so much. Seriously, I'm honoured.

Frankly, I didn't think I'd be able to consider this song a success until I got a respected critic to spontaneously use the word 'fire' in context. Mission accomplished! You’ve officially earned your Gen Z merit badge. 🔥 🤩

I promise to dedicate the eventual NPR Tiny Desk entry (manifest it!) entirely to you. Your endorsement is honestly the highest praise I could hope for. 🎀

You totally nailed the core of the track, too. Knowing that the yearning for solace was recognized makes all the effort feel worthwhile.

Thank you for unearthing this musical gem with me. This is exactly the kind of energy I needed.😡 (blushing)

Best, Izzy

Man, I love this, Izzy, not just cuz it's yours--although that's a good start. Powerful change in dynamics really propel this into the excitment realm, Harmonies --voices in general-- are terrific. Great mix, man. A song that starts with bass is always special.

A night person's anthem, a songwriter's haven of quiet times. Love it, but covet is better that dove it. I swear I'll try. Ha. Don't try, just dot it. We can all use this song to get us started for sure. Man, the istrumentation on this is phenomenal. Fantastic vocal --oh, I said that. I'm on my 3rd listen cuz I reallydig this, Izzy. Such a good song; so dang engaging.

Oh, and you have great friends.

Hi, Izzy.

Man, this song goes through so many sonic changes.

Wide panning, sounds great on my speakers.

Vocals are awesome - mono, doubled, harmonized. It's all there.

However, I'm gutted after reading your description to find absolutely no rhymes involving "oon". wink

G'day Andrew

What a fantastic, insightful review – thank you so much for taking the time to listen so closely!

I'm genuinely thrilled you picked up on the vocal emotion and the arrangement variations; that 'light and shade' is an element I always try for to keep it interesting, so it's incredibly rewarding to hear it resonated.

And you absolutely hit on a key moment with that 'piping' sound! I actually giggled thinking about your "wanted that to come back again - as an alternate outro?" suggestion. That's a brilliant idea and genuinely something I'm going to have to mull over for future mixes or live versions. Consider it filed under "genius suggestions"! ✔️

And no, definitely no vampires, though I appreciate the creative interpretation – my lawyer (Gerda 👵 the blues lover) confirmed there were no fangs or blood pacts involved in the lyrical composition. 🧐

Thanks again for such thoughtful and encouraging feedback. It truly means a lot.

Best, Izzy

You just dropped a review as epic and top-notch as you said the song was! You've basically written the liner notes I never knew I needed. ✍🏻

So chuffed you felt the originality and all the 'crammed in' layers! To keep you hanging and wanting to know where it's going? Mission accomplished! And RHCP vs. U2 on the vocals – I'll take that powerhouse mash-up! 😉

Thank you so much Lee for such a detailed and thoughtful listen!

Thanks, Herb! Glad you found it cool. Yeah, the panning... I might have gotten a little ambitious (or just dizzy). Definitely needs the full 'cans' dive to catch all the sonic shenanigans! Hope they're comfortable. 😉 Appreciate it!

Mario, wow, thank you so much! That's an absolutely fantastic and incredibly detailed comment.

It's incredibly kind of you to pick out the arrangement, the backing vocals, the ending, the vocal, and the lyrics – and the mix!

As for the "no hidden message"... I'm wondering if all my songs are secretly about immortal vampires or supernatural soap opera stars. 😵

Seriously though, thanks again for the incredibly thoughtful and detailed feedback. It means a lot! Maybe my next song will be a full-on 'Dark Shadows' tribute. You've given me an idea! 😉

Cheers,
Izzy

Janice & Bud, wow, thank you so much for this incredible feedback! Seriously, 'anthemic' and 'stadium filling' are exactly what I was aiming for (◔_◔), even if my current 'stadium' is mostly just my dog staring intently at the speakers. 😉

Regarding the complexity of the tracks and the dynamics—I have to give full credit where it’s due: the openness of that mix is a direct result of the wonderful practical advice 💎 you both gave me a while back (my Texas song) ! I actually go back and apply those lessons specifically to the dynamic range in every one of my productions since, so thank you for teaching me to dial it in.👍
Consider this the sonic proof that I actually listen to the very generous advice offered by the good folk of this here forum!

Now, about those 'friends' on guitar and organ… I have a confession. They're an extremely dedicated and reliable bunch. So reliable, in fact, that they often show up unexpectedly whenever I pick up any of my instruments. Let's just say my 'friends' bear a striking resemblance to my own two hands (and maybe a clever pedal or two!). Keeping that secret was harder than the mixing!

Thanks again J&B for listening and for all the amazing comments.

Izzy.
