SONS OF THUNDER Originally written after watching S2E1 of "The Chosen"...now, re-watching, decided to finish and post. -------------------------------------------------- Pushing off, heading out for the deep; On the sea, working hard for their keep; Coming home after hardly a bite; Empty nets, a discouraging sight; There on the sea shore awaited much more. Good of heart, but their spirits were down; Always known as "the brothers in town"; They all called them Johnny and Jim; That all changed on the day they met Him; His word enflamed them, then He renamed them. See how they've changed, they've been touched by wonder; No longer boys, they're the SONS OF THUNDER. To a life set apart from friends, He ordained them as fishers of men; Sent away to proclaim two-by-two's The coming age and the Gospel Good News; No riches aid them, His spirit made them. These are the boys who've been touched by wonder. Now they are known as the SONS OF THUNDER. They have been dressed with a cloak of wonder. Very cool. Nice choice of inspiration --I guess we don't choose inspiration. Whatever. This is a wonderful write, Tom. That piano adds the perfect touch, and I really dig the percussion. Your vocal always brings it home. Nice little recurring theme.

We always love a Bossa and you offer up some very nice ones ... like this.
That is an excellent write ... more rhymes in there than we could come up with in several songs.
The band is really good and bounces along nicely with the percussion.
Cool solo too.

New special note to my friends: I listen to forum songs for pure enjoyment as part of my daily “radio,” in large chunks, while I am out and about. Then I post all my thoughts from mental notes when I am at my computer. There is no correlation between the time I post and the time I listen. Also, I have zero interest in critiquing, and tend to abhor “you’re the best comparisons” except in jest as an inside joke. Like: “the greatest singer and the greatest song on the forum, “ “no one knows more about BIAB than you,” “the best songwriter, vocalist, and mixer to walk the earth since Elvis Presley and no one else can scarcely compete,” etc. I like everyone here and this is just enjoyment for me. Don’t have time for anything else. Thanks.

It's a good bossa, well-composed and well-sung. I find the intro a bit jarring, but that may be a deliberate harmonic choice.

Brilliant instrumentation and arrangement again, Tom. I don't know the TV series, but they lyrics work really well for anyone who doesn't. Love that flute solo. As J&B wrote on SC: "Excellent narrative and production."

Tom, super song, really well arranged. Vocals sound really strong as well. I'm going to guess there's an extra layer of processing going on behind the curtain based on some of the artifacts, but the overall effect is great. Well done!
