Honestly, as the resident AI skeptic, have to admit this is beyond impressive. Really like the human-driven arrangement and the licensed-AI-content aspects. Certainly a next generation version of what BiaB could be, and what I thought they were going to do last year...

I was never an AI skeptic but I have to say this is impressive; arranging, creative control, editing, mixing and a variety of "human" voices to-boot. There is a lot to digest in this video. And did he say this is just a beta?
Clearly, the players in this space are moving accelerating into the future.

If this was just about a new product, it should be discussed in the Off-Topic Forum. But I think the point here is, how does this translate to BIAB? How can BIAB use a model like this to assist in searching the tens of thousands of tracks it already has, to find those that complement what’s already there as you start a song?
Many here start a song by choosing a style first. I almost never do; I choose individual instruments, much like this demo does. But that requires knowing each RealTrack or being able to search for a specific sound. There are requests building in the Wishlist Forum as to how that could be improved.
I do wonder about the quick statement about only using licensed sounds. Where are those coming from? How long before I hear a flugelhorn solo that sounds like me?

Of course, this thread could be construed as advertising for a BiaB competitor, which is of course a bad thing. So understand if this thread is deleted. I agree Ron however I see it as a red flag for PGM, especially when it comes to younger new users. Generating a song appears much easier to do in AI studio than in BiaB or RB. However I have a couple of concerns: 1-how much will it cost? Subscription? 2-will it be as versatile as BiaB/RB?

Very often we are wanting to learn covers. There are already many apps that can strip out different instruments as what is termed stems. Cubase has spectralayers which can do this. It also has Omnivocal which can provide a singer simply by typing in words into a a melody viewed in a key editor. It can do stuff with chords too. Nothing replaces the feel of live musicians and Biab is still the best for this, even if it is cranky and has a Win 95 look. However, if you can take an original or your bands cover and strip out an instrument so you can replace it, this is often much better. AI can do so much more than synthesize voices. It will of course soon be able to do things we cannot imagine for example, strip out an orchestral performance, into individual instrument stems and present the instrument in score notation for you to alter. It’s going to explode onto the scene. Some AI vocals are pretty good, elevenlabs would be a good example. It’s already possible for you to sing like you and sound like elvis or Shirley Temple. There is still a need for BIAB chord versatility but I do doubt the younger generation will use it in its clunky old skool form. When I show it to musicians it’s like showing the, supermario. They , perhaps wrongly, turn their head away. It’s time for a fundamental rewrite.

Just to clarify, what I like most about the demo is it preserved my (antiquated) view of the human "songwriter" as the composer of the lyrics and the melody/chords, and focused on the creation of backing tracks and a mix. The song (lyrics/melody/chords) that came out the far end was the exactly the same song that went in at the beginning. Just with a different backing track. So Moises AI Studio didn't alter the songwriter's creation, only the accompaniment.
If the backing tracks are indeed licensed, that's a big deal for me, too.

They , perhaps wrongly, turn their head away. It’s time for a fundamental rewrite. I agree 100% with all of that! But, to be fair, pretty much every music software program I use has a steep learning curve GUI. (I'm talking to you Scaler. And you, Toontrack. And you RealiTone. And a bunch of others!) The difference is those tools look modern and seem intentionally designed rather than ancient and assembled with duct tape and wire!

And a bunch of others!) The difference is those tools look modern and seem intentionally designed rather than ancient and assembled with duct tape and wire! Very well articulated indeed! Does Scaler have a steep learning curve? Yes Does it have a modern intentionally designed GUI? Yes Does BiaB appear ancient and is being technologically left behind? Yes Conversely, Studio One Pro (as an example) does have a modern/attractive GUI, a short learning curve and is not being technologically left behind. So these positive attributes are possible to combine into a single software product.; but it requires elegant software engineering. Studio One has also embraced AI.

FWIW - Studio One Pro, Toontrack, BiaB, and others have short learning curves IF you only scratch the surface of those programs. All of them have steeper learning curves as you get deeper into them. The biggest difference IMHO is that BiaB is not as intuitive as the others. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges but I have no wheres as many problems with digging deeper in other software as I have with BiaB. Hopefully with PGM requesting suggestions on improving BiaB this may change. Note this is based on my 40 years using music software so your experiences may be different than mine.

I am a big advocate of Ai music in all its iterations. At this point the audio quality is an issue. It’s getting better and how many years:/ months will it be before the audio is commercial quality.
We’re all BIAB users, so the idea of other, mostly unknown, players. If I write a great song and hire studio musicians and time, that’s a big investment before I’ve ever heard it in a band form. Now I give it to Ai and hit create 30 or 40 times and I get lots of ideas and one or two that I want record. If I release it and it becomes a hit I will gladly tell everyone my workflow and how much of the song is me and how much is Ai.in my DAW I use a number of plugins that utilize Ai. Izotope, Waves, EzMix,

The walls of copyright are falling, whether we like it or not. We can regret this and view it as wrong, but it’s here I don't believe this is the case. On platforms like YouTube, enforcement of copyright is often automatic and difficult to challenge. Music generating platforms like Suno have entered into licensing agreements with copyright holders. Problems with the commercial use of AI music - especially the lack of copyright - continues to be a major issue.
