Hello, forum friends This is my final post to this forum of the year. About three months ago, I listened to forum member B.D.Thomas's “Once Upon A Time In Life,” a piece created using Suno AI, and was deeply impressed and shocked. And I discovered that Suno AI has the ability to not only write lyrics and compose music, but also to create covers of original works. So this time, I loaded my original Christmas song into Suno AI, which I posted a year ago, and had Suno create a cover of the song. Shigeki, I listened to both (I remembered hearing the original). I liked the AI arrangement as much as I liked the original. I, too, have been shocked at the quality of the Suno arrangements. My opinion is that any composer would be pleased and honored to hear arrangements of their work, if done faithfully. I have decided to render a number of my completed songs to Suno to create interesting versions, which I won't post here, but have become part of my personal listening library. For me, Suno still is not quite as useful as I would like when it comes to isolating elements that want to add to my BIAB work--the vocals seem to bring over too many artifacts, and I haven't learned how to tell Suno to be "faithful" to my composition's structures. But I'm finding it useful and enjoyable when creating "alternative" versions of my songs. You did a real good job here, Shigeki...of course, you had a top-notch song to start with!

Shigeki Adachi, The Suno version comes pretty close to your original version/vision. I like both versions equally. Your original version is a little more relaxed and gentle, which I think suits the lyrics better, while the Suno version sounds more like a production for radio/airplay. Both are really good. The fact that a musician of your caliber is willing to work with Suno is a strong indication of how far the AI music service has come. I have no idea what the ceiling is, but it seems apparent Suno is here to stay. In twenty years' time, I suspect there will be few doubters. Myself, I am having a terrific time with it. I had almost twenty songs in limbo that Suno brought to life, and that really made me happy. My forum contributions only use Suno for the vocal - the rest is 100% RTs.

Shigeki, I don't generally comment on Suno covers since Suno is competing with PG Music for backing track customers. But I do love your song and the example of what is added by a Suno cover. Both versions are quite nice. I like your original version a LITTLE bit better, as to my ears, the non-professional (but human) musicians brings out a plaintive beauty absent in the Suno version. The Suno vocals are more professional sounding for sure. But I don't think they are "better" in conveying the beauty of the song. In this example, Suno faithfully copied the arrangement of your song, and it sounds GREAT, and that, like Suno, is amazing. But my takeaway is that you fully created this lovely song, and recorded/produced an enjoyable version of it, and that Suno just copied it. What did Suno add to your song, or to the listener's experience? For me, nothing significant. Suno IS amazing. I totally get it. But so are you.

Hi, Shigeki. There's no doubt that Suno and similar tools are amazing. The strings are lovely - especially at the end - and the singer is flawless backed by subtle harmonies. The result is exquisite, although I miss the oboe in the original. My main problem with AI music on this forum is that it's a direct competitor with BiaB. I've posted about this elsewhere, so there's no need to rehash it here. I use synthetic vocals with SynthesizerV. It's very tempting to use Suno to make that vocal more expressive. And I'm looking forward to using tools like Melisma that can transform notation into audio. It's also very tempting to create a song and then hand it over to Suno to do all the "hard work" of arranging and mixing. And it's hard to argue with the results, as Suno can be very, very good! But at least for now, I'm going to stick with tools that require me to do the work.

Ooo. Suno seems to know you well, Shigeki. What a wonderful song. Yep, last year's version was fun and so well done. Suno did a fine job staying within your guidelines. (Is that how it works?) Good music is god music and you create some great music.

It's a beautiful composition, regardless of the version. Suno will transform music creation, just as AI has in many other fields.

There's no doubt that Suno creates first class productions, but while it mostly improves what's been fed into it I nearly always react against it as it's taking some of the creativity away from the composer. I have hours of my music recorded on audio tape from the 70s and 80s which I'm slowly converting to digital and I'm sure that if I loaded even the poorest quality tracks into Suno it would produce a modern professional sounding recording, but it would no longer feel like ME. Your song is once again very excellent, but I'm both wary of AI 'creativity' and AI in general. Like Mario, I also agree with Brian.

If Suno is to be "shown off" in these forums, this is the way it needs to be done. By "showing your work" - your original use of BIAB (and you use it SO well).
Having Suno "cover" your original work is similar to having your musical friends/family/orchestra recreate what you presented originally.
Although, certainly, directing an orchestra yourself is a LOT more work!!!
