I am sure with BIAB this must have been asked before , but I wondered if anyone knows if real time control, like an arranger keyboard, will ever be possible with BIAB ?

I have been following the program for a few years and I was hoping it might be in 2026, but as far as I can see it is not a feature.
Is it possible with the code/program; Arrangers like Ketron Event run "Real tracks" in realtime, and as far as I am aware are based on much older x32 platforms, than most PCs out there which would use BIAB.

My point is it should be possible , at least for a FEW real tracks. Obviously Real Solos may be a problem, but could still work.

Is this something that is of interest to its users ? Has it been requested and refused for a reason before?

I would buy BIAB instantly if it could be used in real time like an arranger - I think this is a feature that MANY others would love and come to the BIAB family.

Sorry if this question has come up before, but this is my first post , and could only find one older post on realtime playing.

Thanks for your time and well done on your new software smile

Im a tech..
There is more to the issue than bb.

Also consider pc architecture.
Win isnt a real time os....
Whereas your arranger kbd has custom architecture dedicated to the task at hand. Action and response in real time.

Also consider all the old slow pc clunkers out there.
Remember that any daw uses buffers to create the illusion of real time cos win isnt a real time os.

CPIA2002,
I am not sure what poster before me is saying..., but
It was requested before. Many people support Live arranger. Not available yet.

Technically it is possible, but would require very different approach in using RTs. As you might be aware, RTs are not single take of a style played through different chords. There might be 2-3 or more very different takes. BIAB randomizes takes and creates seamless WAV based on your chord progression. If you change something in the arrangement, same "spot" might sound completely different. That is a No no for live arranger purposes for many reasons.

To do a real time arranger, these RTs have to be tailored specifically for live playing. Meaning, they will have to have only single take of entire performance through all the chords it was originally played. And that "single" take would have to be manually crafted to take the best possible bits to compile best performance. That could also be an issue as this is a matter of taste.
-----------
What they could do in the future is take path of hardware arrangers. Introduce Real Drums, some Audio Loops and MIDI for live control, which should not be a huge challenge, as basically it will be a Rompler / Midi arranger and then at a later time add specialized RTs.

My point.

Its all about the word LAG..

Ie how much time it takes for the bb/pc
config to react to commands from the arranger kbd.
Of course lag depends on the complexity of the task that bb/pc asked
To perform.
And thats it from me.

justanoldmuso,
You are not correct on the LAG.
Here is a very basic example for you. Kontakt has a dozen of phrase libraries (Session instruments). These phrases are similar to real tracks - they are also recorded (audio) performances. They respond to tempo and chord changes on the fly. Several of these Session instrument instances can run simultaneously and you can control them live using MIDI keyboard as controller.... On Windows computer.
They had been able to do this for quite a few years now. Since early 2018 to be exact.
