There are: Coyote Vst2 , Synthmaster, Sforzando , using Halion Sonic 7 a s GM module Vts3
BIAB is playing Sforzando as realtrack ?
Its a little bit confusing ..

Yes, you are correct - can be confusing  . Think of it this way, while BIAB may by default use a specific sound-sythn for some specific applications, the fact is these are all selectable by you. There are options you can choose in all cases (as best I understand). So I don't use the Coyote or Halion for routine midi playback. Instead, I set my default to Synthfont64. Why?, because I like those sounds for GM much more than any of the other options. Sforzando is not a GM sound synth but is the BIAB default for Midi Supertracks and the new Playable RTs (again as best I understand). You may not be able to change this default, but you can change any midi track to a different synth on an individual basis. I tend to just leave these play as is since they are specific to a patch and they sound good. If you like the sounds, just leave them and BIAB will figure out what to play. But if you want to change, you generally can do that. Hope that helps. Dan

Thanks dr Dan, for the tip about the GM sound module: Synthfont64. I'm curious to hear how it sounds. I assumed it was the Synthmaster sound module for Midi Supertrack style and not the Sforzando sound module. Coincidentally, today I heard Sforzando in a style and Synthmaster before that. So both sound modules, Synthmaster and Sforzando, can be used for Midi Supertracks? But let's see what BIAB comes up with for the sound assignment.

So both sound modules, Synthmaster and Sforzando, can be used for Midi Supertracks? But let's see what BIAB comes up with for the sound assignment. Synthfont64 is a 64 bit Soundfont2 (SF2) player. You load SF2s into it. You can have a GM SF2 as well as many other SF2s like one for an orchestra, jazz band, etc. There is also an editor you can get to create your own personal SF2 by coping individual sounds into it. There are many free SF2s available as well as some you can purchase. The free Timbres of Heaven is one of the best GM SF2. MIDI Supertracks are just MIDI tracks and as such they can be played by any software the plays MIDI. These include Synthmaster, Sforzando, Kontakt, EZKeys, Sampletank, and many many more.

Synthfont64 is a 64 bit Soundfont2 (SF2) player. You load SF2s into it. You can have a GM SF2 as well as many other SF2s like one for an orchestra, jazz band, etc. . The free Timbres of Heaven is one of the best GM SF2. My go-to SF2 is the Coyote Forte. If you are interested and have trouble finding it, just ask here.

What do you think is the BEST SOUNDING software MIDI synth out there right now, regardless of cost? Or two answers, GM and not GM.
