Dear Songโ€‘Makers & Fellow Listeners,

The vulnerable artist's plea ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป: I'm asking you to indulge in a melancholy melody, smack in the middle of the most wonderful time of the year. I know, I know, it's a big ask - like requesting a rain check on joy and cheer. But here's the thing: this simple song, though tough to birth, has been a balm to my soul. It's a cathartic confession, a heart-on-sleeve serenade that's helped me heal, one note at a time.
There were tears, scribbled-out lyrics, and at one point, I think I argued with a chord progression. But somehowโ€”through the messโ€”it became healing. A little sonic therapy session set to melody.

Every time someone hears it, itโ€™s like another brick lifts off my chest. Telling my storyโ€”one slightly shaky vocal at a timeโ€”helps me breathe again. And thatโ€™s powerful.

So thank you. Thank you for listening to my little songs this year. Thank you for bravely sharing your music, your truths, your magicโ€”itโ€™s kept me writing when I wanted to quit. Your art inspires mine more than you know.

Wishing you a Christmas filled with warmth, weird family moments, and at least one song that makes you cry (hopefully not just mine).
And may 2026 be bursting with joy, peace, and endless creative sparks. ๐ŸŽ„โœจ

All my love

Izzy

Izzy, nice to see you back. Beautiful song, beautifully sung. Nicely produced, too. Really like the piano backing and the use of space in the arrangement.

Grief can indeed linger on. Well put.

Wishing you and yours a joyous Christmas!

Izzy,

That is such a beautiful song, sung with so much feeling. You have such a beautiful texture, growl to your voice, I love it. And heartfelt lyrics, some of the structure of the lyrics as well, like:

The house unbends to evening hushโ€ฆthe grief donโ€™t roarโ€ฆI tucked you into yesterday.

I wish I could get my lyric writing into the same zen state you do.

Top song Izzy. Made my day. Merry Christmas to you mate.

Hmmm. Must be me --but then what does that say about me? My first thought was a tongue-in-cheek admonition to be more careful of the font you use in naming your songs, Izzy.

Whoa. All that was before listening. Now... I fell back in my chair in my own reverie of lost companions. Shut up, Izzy. You're turning me into a cry baby. Still, I'm glad to share this brick with you. We lighten the impossible load together. I'm currently on my 3rd run-through, and, man, the3 bricks are getting heavier.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Hi Izzy!
A very raw song, with plenty of space, illustrating the emptiness of grief, and where everyday items or situations can become explanations or symbols of the circumstances of loss. Your song title is a combination of the present and the past, feeling like you have one foot on either side.

I still remember our own canine friend - Toby- who quickly became the centre of all things in our household and an ever-present observer, participant and confidante to all in the family. His absence left a gaping hole. He joined us when our kids were very young, and departed just as they were becoming adults - we were never quite the same again. His scratch marks on the family room sliding door being the only remaining reminder of his life here.

May the quiet times of reflection not be lonely for you, but a time when you can celebrate the honour of sharing a life with Max.

Warm regards,
Andrew

Hiโ€ฏRon,

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and for your kind words. Iโ€™m really touched that you enjoyed the arrangement โ€“ it was important to me to let the emotion of the song breathe, especially when itโ€™s about Max and the quiet moments we shared with him. Your note about the lingering grief resonated deeply; writing this piece was as much a way of honouring his memory as it was a step toward healing.

Iโ€™m grateful to have the support of the PGMUSIC community, and your encouragement means a lot as I keep moving forward, both musically and personally. Wishing you a warm, joyous Christmas filled with music, love, and good memories.

Thank you so much,โ€ฏB.D.โ€ฏโ€”โ€ฏyour words really touched me.

Max was my whole world, and writing โ€œI Tucked You Into Yesterdayโ€ was my way of trying to hold onto the love and the little moments we shared. Knowing that the song can bring a fellow โ€œfourโ€‘legged partner in crimeโ€ to tears tells me Iโ€™ve captured something honest and true.

Iโ€™m grateful that the vocals managed to convey the bittersโ€‘sweet mix of grief and gratitude I feel every day. It means a lot to hear that the music feels powerful and intenseโ€”exactly what I was hoping for when I pieced the arrangement together in Bandโ€‘inโ€‘aโ€‘Box.

Thank you again for listening, for sharing your own love for your furry sideโ€‘kick, and for giving this little tribute to Max such a warm, heartfelt reception. Itโ€™s listeners like you that make putting my heart on the line worth it.

Hi Lee,
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and touching words โ€” they truely mean the world to me. Iโ€™m so moved that the song reached you in such a meaningful way. Losing Max left a quiet kind of ache, and writing โ€œI Tucked You Into Yesterdayโ€ was my way of holding onto the love and light he brought into my life. To know it resonated with you โ€” especially lines that came from such a still, honest place โ€” is deeply comforting.

Iโ€™m especially grateful for your note about the lyrics and the voice. Iโ€™ve always believed that imperfections in a voice can carry truth โ€” it came straight from the heart. ( As do YOUR vocals!)

Your comments absolutely made my day too. Wishing you a beautiful Christmas as well, full of warmth, peace, and music that speaks to the soul. Thanks again for listening โ€” and for taking the time to share such a thoughtful response.

With gratitude,
Izzy ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ’›

Hey Marty,

First off, Your โ€œshutโ€‘upโ€‘meโ€‘Iโ€‘amโ€‘aโ€‘cryโ€‘babyโ€ interjection made me grin (and maybe snort a little) right after that โ€œ#uckedโ€‘byโ€‘aโ€‘fontโ€ moment.โ€ฏI swear I chose that font because it looked โ€œartsy,โ€ not because it wanted to give the song an accidentalโ€ฆ ahemโ€ฆ rude twist. Guess the universe has a cheeky sense of humour!

Your metaphor about us sharing a โ€œbrickโ€ really hits home. Iโ€™ve been lugging around that heavyโ€‘hearted cargo for a while now, and it feels way better knowing thereโ€™s a fellow brickโ€‘carrier on the other side of the forum. Those three bricks may be getting heavier, but Iโ€™m pretty sure weโ€™ve got enough collective muscle (and melodramatic sighs) to keep the wall standing.

Thank you for taking the time to sit back, let the music tug at the feels, and then fling that glorious, note my way. Itโ€™s comments like yours that turn a personal tribute into a shared experienceโ€”one where we can both mourn , smile at the typo, and maybe evenโ€”dare I say itโ€”laugh a little through the tears.

Hereโ€™s to many more runโ€‘throughs, more bricks, and, hopefully, a font that behaves itself next time. ๐Ÿพ

Much love and a virtual hug (and a brickโ€‘lifting spot shoulderโ€‘toโ€‘shoulder),

Hi Andrew,

Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and for your incredibly thoughtful words.โ€ฏYour description of the songโ€™s โ€œemptiness of griefโ€ really resonated with meโ€”itโ€™s exactly what I was hoping to convey, the quiet spaces that suddenly feel so full of memory.

Reading about Toby brought a warm lump to my throat. Itโ€™s amazing (and a little uncanny) how similar our stories are: a beloved K9 companion weaving himself into the everyday fabric of a family, only to leave a palpable hole when heโ€™s gone. I can picture those scratch marks on the sliding door, a subtle, enduring reminder of his presence, and Iโ€™m grateful you shared that detail. Itโ€™s comforting to know that Maxโ€™s legacy, like Tobyโ€™s, lives on in the small, everyday moments that suddenly take on new meaning.

Iโ€™m glad the title โ€œI Tucked You Into Yesterdayโ€ feels like a bridge between past and present for you, too. For me, itโ€™s both a gentle sigh of farewell and a quiet promise to keep holding onto the love we shared. Your encouragement that the quiet times of reflection can become a celebration rather than loneliness means a lotโ€”itโ€™s exactly the mindset Iโ€™m trying to nurture.

Thanks again for your kindness, empathy, and the beautiful memory of Toby. It reminds me that weโ€™re not alone in navigating these bittersweet chapters, and that our pets continue to ripple through our lives long after theyโ€™ve left our side.

Warm regards,
Izzy (and Max)

We've experienced that three times over the past 45 years. Sooooo relatable.
Our last canine friend, Heart, permeated every aspect of our lives. She is still with us on every hike and more.

No need to parse this out.
The write, vocals, arrangement, band and mix are all superb.

This demands to be heard ... no matter the season.

Stunningly well done!

Hey Janice & Bud,

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for your kind words.

Hearing how Heart has been such a big part of your lives, joining you on hikes and in quiet moments, really hits home. It reminds me that the love we have for our furry friends goes beyond their physical presence, and the pain of losing them shows just how strong that bond was. Your openness about Heartโ€™s role in your life has helped me see my own grief in a more compassionate wayโ€”knowing Iโ€™m not alone on this journey brings a comfort thatโ€™s hard to put into words.

Iโ€™m grateful not just for your kind words about the song, but also for the humanity you bring to this conversation. Itโ€™s this shared empathy that makes music such a refuge and a connection.

May the memories of Heart continue to walk with you on every trail, and may we all find comfort in knowing our beloved friends live on through the stories we share and the songs we sing.

Thanks again, J&B

Izzy, as a dog lover I can totally relate to this song.
Your lyrics and vocal touched my heart.
It is very unfortunate that dogs live such short lives.
I could relate as we had to put down three dogs in five weeks; it was a very sad time.
I know that it must have been almost impossible to do this song.
I loved it.

Hi Mario
I absolutely had you pegged as a dog lover (not everyone is). Your tragic experience with your three dogs gave me some much needed
perspective and snapped me out of my self pity mode. I am so sorry that you and yours had to go through that tripple whammy.
Mario , thank you so much for your kind and healing words.
You are a very unique and special person full of wonderfull creativity and compassion. The world needs a LOT more Mario's !!!!!!!!!!!

A gratefull Izzy.
