Hey DC,

This has a great 1950s high school prom sock hop type of a vibe.

I can see you on stage with a suit jacket and a Fender Jazzmaster and Black Horn rim glasses standing pigeon-toed and singing this song to a crowd of hot, screaming girls in polka dot dresses.

Man that's not a bad life.

I think you should try your hand at that.

It worked out really well for Elvis Costello.

It's never too late to bring back the 50s my friend and so help me God I hope you'll be the man to do it.

Thanks, Rob! My lyricist frequently taunts me with tricky lyrics, rhymes and meters, but I never let the pressure get to me. I just roll with it. He'll never see ME sweat. Even when I do...

Ha!

Oh, yeah, I love this happy song. Such a good write, and I really like the bridge. Excelleny lyics from one of my favorite lyricists. What a catchy feeling, and a fine production. Man, I often have that cymbal problem too. I have no solution, but others here will. I just throw knob-changes at it. Cool song.

THANKS, Marty! Yeah, the solution to the overactive ride cymbal is built right into BiaB, but it's a bit overly subtle: Each RealDrum style is recorded with multiple accent options by the same drummer on the same kit. Don't like the ride? Use the closed hi hat. Or something else. The key is the too-hard-to-find "Find a sub for RealDrums" command...

I'm not normally into happy tunes but this is very well done, DC.
Your vocal certainly sound real and sincere.
Herman's Hermits would have loved this.

On purpose.

For me, all boxes are checked:
✅Pop
✅Guitars
✅Wide panned
✅Skillfully arranged and mixed

So of course this song is right up my alley.
And unlike TuneMonger, I LOVE the sequence of rhymes ending in "-ing".
I think "You can’t buy this feeling / Peel myself off the ceiling / Cuz it’s all so revealing" is extremely cool [Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]
More please smile

Thanks, B.D.! Yeah, the power pop genre is a lot of fun for me. I give in to the call as often as I can. Not to everyone's taste though, so happy to have a brother in arms! Glad you enjoyed the "ings"--I did, too!

That's a happy just a little bit sappy pop song. But it works. It has an 80s Brit pop sound ala the cars.

Brilliant instrumentation again, and this time around I currently 100% relate to the lyrics! I'm actually living "I think it’s my heartbeat / Or maybe it’s hers / It could be the breakthrough / Or whatever occurs" etc! Verse 1 says it all at the moment! laugh

Janice read the lyrics first and loved it, especially “I think it’s my heartbeat or maybe it’s hers.”

We much like the arrangement with the ooh’s arriving near the end.
That is some nice and tight harmony

The vibe reminds us of some of the 60’s bands …
not psychedelic, not bubblegum smile not Brit invasion just good ole rock.

Your session guys did the great write and fine vocals justice.

It’s not necessary to parse it out …
we just kicked back and enjoyed the song!

Very well done,

J&B

No need to apologize for another happy Power Pop tune, it is always an invitation to a great party smile Excellent soundtrack music for a feel good movie, I can imagine wildly dancing teens. Those light and romantic lyrics just doubles the effect of timeless love stories, "You can’t buy this feeling/Peel myself off the ceiling/Cuz it’s all so revealing" clever and funny. And the bridge rhyming also made me smile smile

Those new hard rock power pop RTs are like tailor-made for your music, great sounds and you have mixed them to perfection. Your elegant chord progression keeps the interest to the end.

Enjoyed your vocals and those Beach Boys harmonies. If power pop ruled the world, it would be a much more pleasant place laugh

THANKS, Herb. "Happy just a little bit sappy" would make a great t-shirt. Might not sell as well as "I'm with stupid" but I'd buy one for sure.

Hard to believe The Cars played their first show in Boston almost 50 years ago. WHERE DID THE TIME GO???

Oh, WOW, Chay. Then I'm excited for you for sure! One person's "little bit sappy" can be another's "100% relatable" it seems. And so it is. So glad you enjoyed the tune. Enjoy the moment for as long as it lasts!

Thanks, Janne! I'd agree that the lyrics really make this one, and the music just had to find a way to let them shine. Not everyone's cup of tea, but yes, the world WOULD be a better place if only...

Hi Ron,
You've written another really lovely song; lighthearted, very enjoyable, with strong/sweet lyrics, and sung beautifully!
Your lyrical ideas are very strong. I should have mentioned this before, but then again, it's always something that stands out in your songs!

I enjoyed it,
Hans
