Area 51

This one is just a romp. What's it about? In the words of the immortal Roy Neary, "This means something!" I just don't know what.

It might literally be about the pop culture icon named Area 51. Or it could be allegorical commentary on the more than slightly wacked attitudes and social media phenomenon swirling around the world today. Or it might be complete gibberish.

Your call.

Have hotlinked to Wiki's for "Area 51" and "SETI program" in the lyrics.

All the instruments you hear are from 2026 BiaB RealStyle _LEDFOOT.STY, which is described in the StylePicker as Country Rock. Hmmm. Am assigning a pair of guitars to shots/holds in the middle section for variety. The metal(!) drummer in this style has some wild fills, but I like 'em.

On the bridge, the high harmony is going through an auto-panning plugin that approximates a Lesley effect. This is supposed to invoke an "alien" sound. Maybe it does. Went for a different "alien" BGV on the outro.

THANK YOU in advance for any listens and comments!

Area 51 (No UFOs)

Running in circles
The crop circles much too big to be made by an animal
Investigated by INTERPOL
At regular intervals
No alien Super Bowl
Just a name on a file
Just look at them smile

Running out of hope
Trying to cope with all the questions from the gallery
With questions about your salary
And your lunch’s calories
Guess it’s too much flattery
They say you look so fit
But that can’t be it

Area 51 is wide open
All the locks have been broken
All the passcodes have been spoken
Maybe they could use a new slogan
NO UFOs NO UFOs NO UFOs

The little green men
Please tell me when we first became aware of their existence
You asked the press for their assistance
But they put up resistance
And looked off in the distance
Not a weather balloon
The man in the moon
But is it made of cheese?

Area 51 is wide open
All the locks have been broken
All the passcodes have been spoken
Maybe they could use a new slogan
NO UFOs NO UFOs NO UFOs

The SETI program has finally born fruit
The confetti celebration cannons shoot
The spaghetti stain on your black business suit
Grab a machete and your green jungle boots
We’re gonna go to the crash site!

Blurry photograph
Sacrificial calf and reports of a silver flying disc
Extraterrestrial obelisk
It’s just not worth all the risk
When you use an asterisk
To call out something more
A galaxy at war
But I’m begging you please! Peace!!!

Area 51
NO UFOs NO UFOs NO UFOs...

Your catchiest tune yet, the chorus is earworm city. Love all the production touches you mentioned. Vocals are the star attraction, as always. I would love to see a vdeo for this using clips from the cult kitsch flick "Plan 9 from Outer Space." Lots of nice rhymes in the lyric. Another winner in your streak of hits.

Hi Ron

That’s a clever catchy tune Ron. Great use of multiple rhyming lyrics. The alien harmony on the bridge works well. Another excellent production Ron.

Ron,

This is another Pop-Rock gem. It immediately grabs you and holds you start to finish. Love the arrangement and excellent blend of instruments. Great, great vocal - love where it sits in the mix here.

The mix is pro and the master has an incredible sheen to it - big & crisp. Sounds awesome through my speakers.

Absolutely one of your very best!

Bob

Hi Ron!
Thank you for your Ultra Fidelity Offering! And thank you for removing the country from that style - supported by your harmonies, it sounded more like something The Rembrandts would produce - and good! I loved those shots in the middle section as well. Songs about aliens, UFOs and conspiracies is a very untapped theme I reckon!

THANKS, Rob! I'd love to see a video, too. Have done a couple but find them to be FAR more work than I'm into. AI seemed like a good option for cranking out music videos once, but I found the results too disturbing. Just can't bridge that uncanny valley...

Ha: gallery/salary/calories - that’s right up my alley.
I wish I had a lyricist like the one you have.
COOL band, the drummer gives the song a touch of punk.
Great vocals, perfect harmonies, catchy like hell.

Hi Ron,

Very catchy! Man, such a great write. Band is perfect, great production and mix too. And I really like your vocals on this one.

You are coming up with quite a catalogue of really catchy, unique pop songs and have developed a real band sound that is totally unique, and very good!

Spot on the Wall started playing after this one, listened to that again while I was typing smile

Excellent!

Thanks, Lee! Actually, we have a couple of Star Trek tunes, but...well, they're not for everyone, are they? I feel fortunate to have grown up in a time when the SciFi giants were still writing, and you could stuff a dog eared paperback in your back pocket...

Hi Ron.

This is excellent listening. Lots of musical and lyrical creativity abounds everywhere. I compliment you and your brother. RW has really shown his rhyming genius with these lyrics, and your ability match his words with music that fits perfectly and entertains is a real credit to you. This is 'chef's kiss' excellence smile

It's an original song about a subject that fascinates many people and provides a livelihood for others. It starts strong and keeps you entertained from beginning to end, so well done.

Thank you very much, Bob. A blind squirrel finds an acorn every now and then. smile

Even my brother's silliest lyrics have a song-friendly rhythm to them that can't help but turn into a real song.

Glad you liked this one!

Thanks, Andrew. The Rembrandts had their moment, didn't they? We should all be so fortunate.

Might get to rolling out more of our conspiracy-themed songs over time. They're silly fun for sure.

Harumph. Nobody talks about Area 49 anymore. This is great, ROn. I love those lyrics. Kudos to R.W. Davis --and you for recognizing that talent. Speaking of talent... Terrific write. I know exactly what it's about. What a cool melody. Do you write the music AFTER having the lyrics? Either way, what a great match.

Enjoy whatever happens!

Ron, what an outstanding song.
Your vocal was spot on.
Super backing band and mix.
The lyrics took it over the top for me.
Loved it

PS - if "All the locks have been broken All the passcodes have been spoken" is actually true expect the F.B.I, C.I.A, and the G.A.Y men to come knocking on your door.

Ha! My vocalist spent the first 13 years of his life sharing a bedroom with me, so...good luck with THAT. He was obnoxiously gifted as a kid, but now disguises it quite well. Except on this forum.

Love that drummer, too. Wouldn't work for EVERY song, but he digs in in all the right places here.

Sometimes these songs take a while. This one wasn't one of those. It just emerged as a wholly formed tune, which is cool when it happens.

Glad you liked it!

Another D[irect] C[urrent] zapper of a chord structure and also a great production. A truly enjoyable romp of a song, though I'm not quite sure what it's saying about the UFO theme. I've been interested in the subject for over 50 years and I've met one of the earliest British researchers into it who became cynical about the whole subject, but I've found over the years that there's oodles of fakery in books on the subject and also on popular TV shows. I now doubt that we've ever been visited by aliens - there are alternative perspectives on and explanations for valid sightings, etc - and the only semi-interesting idea one guy put forward is that a minority of sightings could be human time-travellers (tourists) from the future. I now just have one book on the subject, "The Field Guide to Extraterrestrials" which lists countless assumed contacts with ETs, but if every one of them was an actual alien then we're being visited by hundreds of alien species and that's just not possible. For a comic view on the theme I recommend Country Joe McDonald's less than 2 minute song "UFO". It's a hoot! But the important thing is that your song is an excellent hoot, too! laugh
