Hello everyone.
I've been absent due to gallbladder problems and a prolonged post-op convalescence - the surgeon did a perfect job but a tiny amount of 'sludge' from the offending organ spilled into the bile duct and I had a bad infection made worse by being type 2 diabetic.

Enough of all that! I retire at the end of September and I'm now working three days a week as I phase myself out and handover to the successor I've recruited. My two partners (we did a MBO together ten years ago) have bought me out and I must now make the most of my days and years. My wife and I plan to move down to the Cornish coast in a few months. I can now spend more time making music and already have some new songs on the go.

Glad to be back!

John

Hey Skyline,

As you probably remember, I went through the Surgeons' Surprise Party a couple years back also.

At our age, and with the type II, these things do indeed turn into life-changing experiences alright.

Very glad to hear you have made it through to the other side of the thing, old chap!

And now, as Peter Gannon's famous signoff always says,

"Have fun!"

Hi John,
I can fully comprehend your plight having undergone this one myself. In my case the surgeon lost most of the "sludge" resulting in several months of fighting infection and further surgical procedures to drain it off! I'm glad your surgeon was a good one, not that I'm complaining about mine, these things happen.
In any case I wish you well and good luck with your move to the Cornish coast. You'll not be far from me on the Devon coast (Torbay)

Kind Regards,

Dave.

Sheesh John - sludge? Glad you're OK - I've noticed your absence.
I can't tell you how encouraging your story is to a guy who's gall bladder is so "stoned" that it's on a permanent high. On the up side, it's not giving me any trouble - famous last words.

Welcome back.

Ian
