Hi,

I need to input chords that are not in the BIAB chord list : since I use them quite often, it's a constant waste of time to look for and try workarounds. Here are some of theses chords :

Cm add2 (Cm9 does not sound the same at all)
Csusb9
CMaj7b5

Why doesn't BIAB include theses chords and provide things such as C13sus#5#9#11, which can be of use but maybe not so commonly ?

Thanks
Corinne Mils

I agree.

A way to input your own chords and possibly save them would be a great addition to BiaB.

OK, a random thought;
Why does toilet paper need a commercial? Who's not buying it?

Welcome. It is much easier to reply if you state the version you are using. And an outline of your gear, computer, operating system etc. Especially if you are going to hang around for the good stuff. We have one member who gets blamed for everything. You can figure that out later

Welcome to the forum, Corinne.

Are you sure CMaj7b5 doesn't work? What version of BIAB are you using?

As another alternative, the b5 and #11 are the same pitch, different octave, and CMaj7#11 is not supported, but you can also use CMaj9#11. And if the CMaj9#11 sounds OK for you, you can program a shortcut so that you get that when you enter CMaj7#11. If you want to know how to make shortcuts, write back.

I see you have made two posts, the other about D2 in the French forum. My French isn't up to the task any longer (although John's certainly is), so if you post that question here I'm sure we can comment.

Mario has a good point, it would be nice to be able to create our own chords, but they would only work for MIDI. Real Tracks would have to use substitute chords, and BIAB would need to be told what they are.

Thanks for your answers and suggestions,

I use BIAB 2010.5 Build 20 on a Macbook Pro.

I've just checked again, when I type CMaj7b5 I just get that "nope, try-again" sounding beep.
CMaj9#11 : ok, but what if I don't want a 9th in my chord ?

On a more general level, how come BIAB provides some highly complicated (and jazz sounding) chords while I'm sure not all BIAB users play jazz, and doesn't accept simpler ones like Cm add2 (this one being very often used in pop and jazz music) ? Who chose ? On which criteria ? Could it be possible to work all together (PG Music and users) on a new and more complet chord list ?

BIAB has gradually become very sophisticated as well as easy, especially with RealTracks, which I plan to use much more than I do today. But whereas with midi I can always put my hands into the midi events, with audio files I can't !

Thanks, that's unfortunate, because Maj7b5 works fine on the Windows version. In the future, it's helpful to state which platform you are using.

I don't know any better way to improve the product than putting entries into this Wishlist. Over the years, many requests have been implemented, including several of mine.
